Has Smith and Ainge run the Jazz into the ground? Tanking two years in a row for a 14% chance of getting a potential superstar seems a big risk. Indiana is proving that you don’t need 2 or 3 superstars to win. Sloan is rolling over in his grave. SGA is a developmental superstar. The pacers and thunder are winning with up tempo offense and lock down defense and moving the ball. Neither team has a ball hog.

So now bring in Austin Ainge to turn things around. Makes no sense. Maybe they should spend more time fixing the Jazz and less time supporting a rival that a lot of your fans despise. I was a big Jazz fan but have been completely turned off by the new ownership and their poor decision making.

Setting players up to fail and lose is not a good formula. Young players should develop slowly and find roles to help win games. Benching and sitting out veterans that can help you win can be a cancer in the locker room.

There are only so many years an athlete can play this game at a high level. Sitting them to tank, is doing them a disservice. The top veteran players should demand to be traded. This strategy will probably never get the results they are hoping for.

Tanking only seems to work for certain teams (Golden state, etc…). The NBA is broken and has been for quite some time.

Unfortunately there is no salary cap or restrictions on free agents in college. Can imagine what the NBA would look like if the same rules applied.

I don’t think GS ever tanked. Steph was #7, Klay #11, and Draymond was #35 in their respective drafts, plus most of their role players are late 2nd-rounders. I’d be more worried about the Jazz’s last two drafts, where they had 5 1st-round picks and multiple 2nd-round picks, with only Collier and Flip appearing to be decent role players. The OKC model works with developmental genius and hitting on your 1st rounders. So far, the Jazz have done neither and by far, this is the biggest concern because they have to hit on every pick, free agency is not an option for them. If they don’t, the Mitchell and Gobert trades will send them into an NBA wasteland.

I would say they tanked the 2011-2012 season and drafted Klay Thompson, but he was drafted at 11 so maybe they’re just better at drafting than the jazz/

Utegator, this is why I can’t watch the NBA anymore. It’s a joke.

Yeah, it seems like even if the Jazz do get a all star player; they will end up wanting to leave anyway.
