Nice to beat the zoobs, but too bad they got run-ruled in a couple games vs. Oklahoma over the weekend — EDIT: No that was the women’s softball team which is more understandable – sorry, guys!.  For what its worth (some bragging rights?), Utah will take the stupid Deseret Duel this year as they have every year since 2013, with a single exception of 2015-16 (which, if I recall correctly, was when there wasn’t a regular season football game, but Utah beat BYU in the Vegas Bowl — didn’t count for some reason in this contest).

Off on a tangent.  Is there a ‘mercy’ rule in college baseball?  Softball of course has one in the NCAA.

I’ve never heard of a mercy rule being implemented in college baseball, but according to Wikipedia (for what that’s worth) it’s available. The IBAF rule mentioned is 10+ runs lead after 7 complete innings.

“In regular season or conference tournament NCAA and NAIA college baseball, the IBAF rule may be implemented. Most NCAA conferences limit the rule to the final day of a series, for travel reasons, or primarily during conference tournaments where four to five games are played in a day, in order to allow the next game to start. The rule is not allowed in NCAA tournament play (regionals, super regionals and College World Series), in which all games must be at least nine innings.”

BYU won 4 of the 5 five duels.  Counting this year (which Utah has already clinched, even if BYU wins the softball game and the remaining 2 baseball games) Utah has won 6 of the last 7.

Shows what being in the PAC12 compared to WCC/football independent has done to the programs.
