Every eventual National Champion has a close call during the tournament. Hopefully, this will be ours. Princeton played great defense, and we only hit one three-point basket. You have to have a great team to win under those circumstances.
Sitting behind Jerry Sloan and Steve Young at the Huntsman, I saw Steve Nash and Santa Clara upset a highly-touted Lute Olson’s Arizona team in the First Round. Enjoyed the game, and, at least, the Arizona cheerleaders did a good job. Today, the difference was coaching, and Princeton played great defense at the end.
I remember the 1971 NCAA West Regional where UCLA beat BYU, and then escaped a certain loss to a Tarkanian-coached Long Beach State. It was John Wooden’s team with “have nots”—Wicks, Patterson, Rowe, Bibby, and Schofield—went on to win the championship.
Again, another ESPN wish list. Remember, the last NCAA had the Lady Utes as a #1 seed—before beating Stanford, and then losing to PAC-12 Tournament Champion WSU. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the NCAA make Utah a #1 seed, despite the lobbying from ESPN.
The only silver lining to this game is that we won’t get beat by Arizona (by 40 points). Just an absolutely disappointing finish to the season. Our players looked “gassed” early in the second half. Maybe they caught norovirus at the buffet. No defense. No offense. No foul shooting. Too many turnovers.
This is just an ESPN wish list promoting the conferences they televise exclusively (ACC, SEC). It will be interesting to see what the actual selections and seeding occur next week. The PAC-12 is the best conference in Women’s basketball this year, period. It will be fun to watch them in the NCAA Tournament.
So, thirtyfour-thirtyone, you would be okay with someone on sports radio calling PAC-12 followers and Utah fans “ANTIFA thugs”, if it is interpreted by them as true, but “but done in fun”.
This is what he said: “I don’t see the ’12-anons’ – the Q-anon Big 12 people – I don’t see the ’12-anons’ walking away from this feeling very good.
Canzono is ignorant, and this article is consistent with his inflated ego—labeling people with crude names. You can report a suspected outcome without demeaning individuals who are not the beneficiaries of the outcome.
If we play good defense, and have at least an average shooting game, we’ll be ok.
