I remember the NCAA Tourney days in the mid to late 90’s. Not only our Utes dancing every year, but after finals I would head to the Hunty to watch the 1st & 2nd rounds. I would find out what color the re-entry stamps are that year, then head to the book store and purchase a highlighter in said color. 4 quality games.

I remember the 1971 NCAA West Regional where UCLA beat BYU, and then escaped a certain loss to a Tarkanian-coached Long Beach State. It was John Wooden’s team with “have nots”—Wicks, Patterson, Rowe, Bibby, and Schofield—went on to win the championship.

I attended those games too. I remember thinking the UCLA players, esp. Wicks and Rowe, were unlike anything we had ever seen before.

      That’s Ute ingenuity right there.
