Hiring an up and coming assistant is common and could be lucrative if you hit it. Tommy Lloyd and Jerome Tang are examples of former assistants that took over big programs (and are running well with it).
I just think we’ve done enough prospecting (trying to find the next Majerus), and would like to see a big bang hire for once.

The scenario is his itch to get back into coaching.

Hell of a program they have. We take their coach, they find another. VCU takes him, they once again find another.

I would agree with Miami here. Why the F would we hire an assistant? Furthermore, no more prospecting with potentials like LK or CS. Go with proven formula this time around like a big time program. My vote is Brad Stevens – He wants to get back into coaching and is stuck behind the Celtics office.

He was on Bill Riley show the other day. Said it felt weird being back in SLC, but he’s enjoying the moment. I think this is his first time playing in the tourney. At Utah St, he was hurt and overshadowed a bit by the Steven Ashworth kid.

I’ve always believe in a balance between freakish athletic talents and the potential problems they might bring. Coach CS doesn’t strike me as someone that could put up with shenanigans. This isn’t his fault, but I believe it’s the directive from the administration to hire a coach that can balance the sensitivity of the community. This is cons…[Read more]

Nah, they have my respect. Pope has done an awesome job. This is different from my opinion of their fan base.

Yes, D.Smith needs to be paired up with a true point guard. Worster plays the shooting guard and D.Smith is slasher. This would be a good 3 guard line up for BIG12 play.

So Josh Furlong is reporting that CS is going to change up the recruiting strategies. We all know he doesn’t recruit the most talented players, but the more coachable ones. His recruiting tactics has always been antiquated and I can only hope he has come to terms that in order to compete in the BIG12, he needs more raw talent. This starts with…[Read more]

They had a great 1st year in the league. A season where naysayers have to respect them now. Pope had a great game plan entering Big 12 by playing the league theme: perimeter shooting, heavy guard rotation, multiple 4-stretch players. I hope Craig Smith can do something special too.

The key of game was simply the Smith/Simpkin matchup. The better guard would prevail as winner. We know who that was.

See ya everyone. Hasn’t been fun this year. If we are serious about our Bball program, need to reboot and get a proven coach. We have the $ and the fanbase. We have the facility and the conference.

Look at Louisville, just fired their coach after 2 season ! -

CBS is Jerry Palm. He’s been the most lenient of all bracketologist. He took us out after the lost to Oregon. He even still had us “last 4 out” after we lost to Oregon State. We are in his cellar now. Beat Buffs and Wazzu, the narrative will change to our favor. It starts tonight !!! CREATE OUR OWN MARCH MADNESS RUN NOW !

I wish that was true, but i think the lost at oregon state was very damaging. You’ll start seeing the Utes in “last 4 in” / “last 4 out” talk after we beat Wazzu.

Tomorrow’s key is the D.Smith / Simpson matchup. Smith needs to have a game of his life.
