meh… We’ve dealt with non-existent wide receivers for over a decade now. We’ll be fine as long as the rest of the offense is good.

Direct snap to Nate Johnson who then throws a backward pass to Barton who throws 20 yards downfield to Andrews who then executes a perfect hook and ladder style pitch to Dampier who runs it in for a TD only to trip and stumble into a strategically placed UCLA cooler.

What a strange take. By refusing to do more than he has to to placate fans and give the other team information they would otherwise have to work for he IS avoiding nonsense. The whole reason he does this is his desire to focus entirely on football.

Or… instead of all these conspiracy theories, maybe he actually DOES look better than Ficklin. I’m not saying Wilson at QB2 is a good thing even if he is the better of the two, but there is always a possibility that (the guys with the most information about which one is better) the coaches know more than (those who have essentially zero…[Read more]

Nate not being in the rotation is not surprising. He’s gotten a ton of mileage off of his HS 100m time. He is a great athlete, but so is every other receiver on the team. He wasn’t a good QB, and playing receiver is about more than sprinting in a straight line.
They may have some special package for him, but any belief that he would be a reg…[Read more]

I’m feeling excited for the same reason you aren’t excited. It’s high time we got some new faces. We’ve been playing the will they/won’t they game with Cam and co for years. I’m not expecting anything, but I’m excited to see some new faces out there (and not because of injuries for once).

Congrats to Tyler for getting the best job in the world, professional benchwarmer. BTW, I don’t mean this sarcastically. Seriously, its a sweet gig. Virtually no responsibility, amazing pay, all without any of the stress or negative physical consequences of being a contributor.

If Whitt needs to satisfy some desire of his by stirring up unnecessary QB drama, its fine with me so long as it is with the QB2 spot and not QB1.

I’m in the same boat. If it motivates them to work harder and makes our team better, I’m all for it. I just don’t want everyone watching the game to know what is going to happen when certain players come on the field. The only time that should be the case is with a kicker or punter.

yep. This is what I was going to say. With a guy like Dampier, he can get loose and win us any game currently on our schedule. Any number of other factors could combine resulting in us losing any game on our schedule. Who knows?

Our RB room is not so different from last year (which isn’t great, but not terrible either). We have one mostly proven guy and several other unknowns. I would rather have this year’s RB group than last year’s. First of all, we have a person who I believe is a much better RB coach. Second, we have unproven guys behind our #1, rather than a guy who…[Read more]

I don’t think things are going to get much better guys. I think the NCAA as we knew it is toast. How can they possibly regulate this in a way that evens out the competitive balance? They’ve already gotten rid of the BS amateurism stuff. The courts have spoken, and players are now (justifiably) allowed to profit off of their NIL. That will never…[Read more]

That is what all of the highly paid coaches and players at TSPP say. They don’t want to admit that wealthy church members are spending a lot of money on paying 18 year olds to play basketball instead of spending the money to help people that actually need it. It looks bad if the uber wealthy church openly talks about paying kids millions of…[Read more]

If they are going to contribute more than 1 or 2 big plays this season, they will need to do what Vaki and Weddle did, which is contribute in more ways than 1. With Vaki there were a few different runs he could pull off, and he was a home run threat in the passing game as well. He was a legitimate running back. With Weddle, he could throw, run,…[Read more]

Returning kicks is not the same thing as playing on offense. Obviously, whoever is returning kicks, everyone knows who is going to return the kick unless there are onside kicks or other shenanigans ensue.

Gimmick players are not a good thing IMO. When they come in, everyone knows what is about to happen. If they are going to play both ways all the time, and they are capable of it, fine. It doesn’t even have to be close to every snap, just enough so that it isn’t obvious what we are about to do when they come on the field. That was one of Ludwig’s…[Read more]
