First of all Meyers is not coming back to Utah. Best case scenario is Scalley head coach and bring back Jay Hill as DC. Keep the assistants in place. Sitake is on his last leg with the “Y” and they will hire Hill as HC. They will not let him go unfortunately for us. If Sitake can’t get to a bowl game this year he and Roderick will be gone. Scalley is an Utah man all the way. Give him the shot he deserves.

BYU fans are obsessed with everyone from the Big 12 liking them and what a wonderful unique place BYU campus and education is. It makes them feel important to belittle others that don’t stand up to their high standards. It won’t take long for the Big12 to figure it out.

I agree Miami. Seems Keba got worse as the season wore on. We will miss his 12-15 minutes of rebounding and blocking shots. I think Lovering can fill that role. I’d rather go with a smaller lineup that can spread the floor with shooters. Our biggest need is a couple of athletic guards that can defend the perimeter and finish at the basket. Smith much harder to replace than Keba.

It’s pretty clear Smith is not the answer we were looking for. With that being said the bigger the hole we dig the harder it will be to get out for the next coach. With NIL and portal it’s easier to jump ship than trying to get it back on track.

I remember when Utah played Wyoming in Laramie late in Meyers final year. It was a national televised game and was Utahs chance at some exposure. The old stadium couldn’t handle the power surge and knocked out the power. The game was delayed for a couple hours. The tv broadcast was canceled and the game started after 9:00 pm. It was a cold November night in Laramie. I knew Meyers would be gone after that debacle. MWC was not on his radar any more.

Thanks Minnesota that was my same thoughts as well. Nothing jumped out and grabbed me talent wise other than his size. We need athletes to go with our shooters. Smith’s athleticism was a noticeable difference last year. Our defense and being able finish at the rim is a big need in my opinion. Keba was a great athlete but lacked BB IQ and didn’t seem to improve offensively or defensively last year. Still miss him!!

I agree utefan79. He motivated not only the student body forming the MUSS but also mentored Whitt with his attention to details. Mac brought in talent and made Utah competitive. Meyers took the talent and developed it. Meyers put us on the map in college football. Scalley is next in line. We should all be behind him as HC. He is a “Utah Man” all the way!!Go utes

How good was he really? I only recall seeing him play a couple times. I don’t think he played enough to get a read on his abilities. Bowling Green is a big step down so maybe he realizes it’s a better fit for his talent level. Anyone have inside information on his upside and being able to contribute on next years team?

Nothing makes sense anymore Miami. The landscape of sports in general has changed. Kids used to dream about playing high school sports and a chance at a college scholarship, education and four year experience that will put them on a path for future success. Now all the “Super leagues” and entitlements at a young age have given kids false hope of becoming the next professional super star. It is putting WAY too much pressure on kids at a young age. Mental health issues are more common. Money and entitlement is the driving force in our society today and sports is just a microcosm of society.

Your points are all valid. Maybe a switch to the Big 12 will spark some interest. It only takes a great coach or player to make a big difference. Look at USU last year. With the portal things can change faster. NIL can’t survive in the long run.
