A buddy and I are headed to Maryland Deathfest next Wednesday. It’s a 4-day extreme metal festival in downtown B-more’s Harbor District. They basically close off an entire street on Thursday through Sunday and have anywhere from 1-3 death metal bands playing at all times from 2pm until 2am each day. Me and around 6,000 of my closest friends will be having a fantastic mosh pit party. 🙂

I have been to lots of concerts (just under 500, by last count) but there’s been one band that is sitting squarely at the top of my bucket list that have always eluded me. Japanese weirdos Sigh have been my absolute favorite metal band for the last couple decades, but they very rarely come to the US. When they were announced as one of the MDF headliners, it was a no-brainer to go hit this years festival. Also getting the chance to see heavy hitters like Obituary, Cynic, Dark Funeral, Tryptikon, Incantation, and Dragged Into Sunlight are just icing on the cake.

Other than that, we’ll be taking the kids to St. George a couple times over the summer to see shows at Tuachan. I think we’re seeing Wizard of Oz, Little Mermaid, and Newsies, the latter of which is definitely the family favorite musical. Excited for that, as the few shows I’ve been to down there have always been fantastic. Saw Anastasia last year, and it was incredible.

Y’know, when you’re writing rants about how the Pope is “woke” because he’s not just not MAGA enough, maybe that’s a good sign to step away from the internet for a while and re-evaluate things.

      Just a thought….

I’m confused, didn’t the transfer window close? Wasn’t that why everyone breathed a big sigh of relief last week when Snowden decided to stay?

If he was as good as he thinks he is, someone would have taken a chance on him by now. The fact that we’re seeing QB’s like Tyler Shough drafted before Shedeur is a pretty good indicator that he’s just not all that. Certainly not worth the ridiculous circus that is sure to follow him.

There’s a line between confident and absurdly arrogant, and Shedeur sprinted right on past that a looooooooooong time ago.

For the first time in 21 years, I sold my season tickets this week.

I had to scramble for a new job a few weeks ago after my company got DOGE’d and ended up having to take about a 50% pay cut. Simply couldn’t afford it this year so we had to give them up.

Not too torn up about it though, as the kid’s have so many activities now that it was becoming REALLY hard to even get to games anymore. I’ll miss the atmosphere but am glad they’re going to someone who will use them.

Mine went up 43% last year. Cancelled my 4 seats after 19 years. No regrets. Ended up going to the two games I could actually attend, that I wanted to attend, with who I could bring with me with secondary market tickets. I bought three total tickets. Which means if I renewed, I would’ve been trying to sell or begging people to use 21 tickets. No thanks.

This is where I’m at as well, and am strongly considering not renewing our 5 seats. I only made it to half the games last year and actually ended up just giving away several of my tickets (because dealing with scammers is exhausting). As the kids get older and into more activities, it becomes more and more difficult to justify setting aside entire Saturdays in the fall to spend on football.

I also feel guilty saying this, but I kinda prefer the comfort of watching from my couch. At least it doesn’t take me 2 hours to get home after the game ends.

Still on the fence, but this may be the year we give them up.

Of course they have. They’re taking over everything else, why not college football?

It’s not really Harlan or Taylor’s fault, as the price increase isn’t really that much of a factor to me. Yes, the tickets are more expensive, but what isn’t these days?

While all the conference realignment and NIL nonsense has certainly diminished my interest in college sports in general, the biggest contributing factor towards not renewing is the fact that I simply don’t have the time, energy, or money to devote to it anymore.

      It’s not them, it’s me.

One of the primary reasons Musk bought Twitter is exactly so he could turn it into the white supremacist garbage heap it has now become. It was a strategic bet for him to get exactly where he is right now. He can’t be President so he’s doing the next best thing, which is strongly influencing where federal money will be spent (hint: it will go to his companies). And if his bet didn’t work out and Trump lost? Meh. He still had, what, 350 Billion dollars to fall back on?

As far as the “Democrats used to love him”, that was looooooong before anyone knew what he was. Heck, I even considered buying a Tesla at one point in the early going. Now, I will steadfastly refuse to do anything that even might put a nickel in that fascist’s pocket.

Also, it’s pretty hard to take anyone seriously who references the “Twitter files” with a straight face.

“TDS is a hell of a drug. They are going to get a major fix for the next 4 years.”

This one is always hilarious to me.

      – Trump: Says or does something stupid.
      – Most people: “Wow, that was really stupid”
      – MAGA: “TDS! TDS! YOU HAVE TDS! TDS!!!!”

I would think it’s must be exhausting to have to twist yourselves into knots to defend whatever nonsense he spouts. Have fun with that, I guess.
