Ute Hub Site Planning
I need somewhere to document future site plans. This will be it for now.
Current plans/upgrades/changes.
User Experience
Eliminate button borders and reduce text footprint at bottom of posts and replies. Take focus off of them to make it more on the content.Move like buttons to header of each topic/reply, upper right (done 11/1/16)Change date of post from the super long format to a Twitter style, like 3h (this shortens it, simplifies it, and makes it take up less space on mobile) (done 11/1/16)Make user avatar bigger, because there’s plenty of space for that to happen without increasing the content size. More like Twitter. (done 11/1/16)Move category and post time from the bottom buttons to the header, and make the text smaller and less obtrusive. The time is, after all, not a button. (done 11/1/16)Move user name to top of post. Format: avatar – user – category – time (done 11/1/16)In regular forum pages the header functions of each post/reply overlap- Add a padlock icon to the picks button when picks are locked
- Widen pages on larger computer monitors, or go full screen even
New Feature Ideas
Pick the score game (70% done)- “Bracketology” game – Yes, this is what you think it is (possible winter project 2016-2017)
- Ute Hub mobile app (possible winter project 2016-2017)
- Edit inline: User can edit in place, one of his/her posts without loading a new page.
Re-order home page replies to appear in relation to what they are replying to, rather than simply newest to oldest. Possible to have a user setting to change this?- Make clicking of category from home page show the home page threaded view of that category, rather than going to the standard forum view
Add admin section to edit/put text inside of pick em areas like about, sponsors, rules etc.- Add “reply to” with user hashtag. Similar to reply with quote perhaps, but inserts user with hashtag, like reply to @admin…
- Dump wordpress and write the whole damn site in custom code (biiiig project but will allow for total customization and ease of changes, and easier mobile app development)
- Ignore user on home page
- Category view in home page format (threaded)
- Enable user groups. Why would users want to be in groups? Aren’t we all in the “Ute Fans” group?
- Add a donate button.
- Track user donations?
- Remove ads or go to an ad free option via donation?
