I think honestly that the final rankings and Utah’s championship and Rose Bowl trip is obviously earned, BYU’s drop in the rankings is not surprising. But that bowl is crap. I too feel bad for those student athletes. They do deserve better. I have to wonder if BYU ever worked to get a better guaranteed bowl? They will do better in the Big 12. I hope they retain autonomy status.
I’ve been thinking for a while that Independence was unfair to the players. I know you didn’t want to be g5, but if you dominate the MWC, you make it to the NY6. And Cincy has proven you can make the CFP. Independence was just a bad move imo.
The end of year bowl game dance is currently rigged against everyone that’s not Notre Dame or in a P5 conference. You have to have an undefeated season, which is quite frankly super difficult if not impossible. Even the top two SEC teams aren’t undefeated this year. It would be nice if the CFP would expand to offer more opportunity as the difference between the top 4 teams vs the top 8 teams is pretty negligible. On top of that how cool would it be to give opportunities to some G5 teams on a yearly basis? It may turn out that an expanded CFP might show that the vaunted SEC isn’t as awesome as they think they are. We couldn’t have that now could we? Probably not as the $ people/networks would be against it.
I would say this was the best byu team in my lifetime and they got stuck with a toilet of a bowl game. Best of luck in the big12 and going through the grind of a conference schedule
Kalani is a stud – you guys have a rough physical team. Much respect. Love the rivalry, GL in the B12. And feel free to post rivalry smack too 😀 . The rivalry game is the best (except when Utah loses, then I go into a coma for 30 days).
