So, I’ve made my thoughts about the offensive coaching pretty clear in other threads. But I really can’t wrap my head around the usage (or lack their of) of Zack Moss tonight.

We’ve been riding Joe Williams game after game this season. Sure, he came in with fresh legs, but the workload that he’s shouldered since then has been pretty intense. We had a healthy Zack Moss on the sideline tonight who came in for maybe three plays? Why not bring him in a bit more as a backup to give Joe a breather? It was clear that in the 4th quarter, Joe was physically and mentally exhausted. I think it would’ve been beneficial to have Moss come in more throughout the course of the game as a change-of-pace back to Joe.

I’m not sure if that call comes down to Whitt, ARod or Erickson, but I think it was a definite miss tonight. I get that Joe has the home-run capability, but it seemed like we were riding too much on the *hope* that he would eventually break one for a big gain or TD, when in reality, the Buffs had his number all night long.

There was a couple of WTF moments.  Like not starting number 3 (thompson) at LB and doing the 5 man front on d.  Or having a WO in on goaline DEFENSE instead of Fogel who is a safety.  I think we outsmarted ourselves again.

Yeah, I was baffled to see Tyrone Smith playing corner on that play. I don’t know whether Reggie Porter got pulled because of the PI call (which was not PI), or if he was hurt? But that made literally no sense.

Remember that early game where Moss, McCormick and Shyne all got significant touches and yards? All those change of pace backs was awesome and worked well, but then we canned the approach the same way we went heavy with Booker and White. Wittingham get’s comfortable with one guy and then that is all you see. Same thing with play calling. Get 1st down on 4th off tackle a bunch vs USC and then damn near every 4th down after becomes an off tackle run.

It really makes me wonder how much Whitt is influencing the offense. It’s his right as a HC, I suppose, but if you really have that little faith in your offense, then it’s time to make a change.
