  Down to Fantasy Land. So people have argued that if you fire Whittingham who could you possibly get? Who would possibly want to coach for Utah. No, Saban isn’t coming to Utah and Urban isn’t coming back. I’m sure there’s a plethora of FBS OC’s out there that would love to take the next step. But who?
  
  Let’s think outside-the-box a little. How about Mike Leach? He has ties to Utah (tds alumn ’83). Texas Tech had winning season’s (10 from ’00-09) under his tenure. He has turned the bottomless pit of the Pac-12 into a winner in five years. That’s NO small feat in Pullman. It’s not USC or UCLA but I don’t believe that’s his style. And SLC has to be better than Pullman and Lubbock right.
  
  And his interviews would be LEGENDARY, the SLC media would love him. But hey, just spit ballin’. Plus… HE’S THE PIRATE! Hilarious.

  What has Mike Leach ever won as a P5 head coach? If the reality version of fantasy land consist of a coach whose teams routinely lose to FCS teams and lose low to mid tier bowl games then Whitt has got be in the Saban category.
  
  Also, I have on good information that there is only one team in the PAC12 that interests Leach and they wear powder blue uniforms.

      Nah, when it happens it will be time. Besides, I think we all have a pretty good idea who the top 3 or 4 candidates would be.
      
      I think Leach is an interesting dude who would be a blast to have a conversation with. On the football side of things I just don’t get the allure. No coach seems to get more publicity and credit for middling results than the Pirate.

  I’m not wild about a coach who locks his players in equipment closets for extended periods of time. His interviews are legendary, however.
