    This is one of those “AH HAH!” moments though. If his guys he developed for so long leave why didn’t he bring in the better product earlier?!

    That would be true if Jayce wasn’t mostly worthless. If he had been good as a freshman or sophomore he would have left then. He is tall, that’s it. He literally has no other viable skills.

  From a coaching staf perspective (NOT from a league perspective), I’d head to Marquette as well.
  
  From several posts on this topic here and other places (not specifically this thread) the majority seem to think we ave not losing anything.
  
  Wll, I disagree with the presepctive that we should be happy seeing him go. He was tall, and it turns ou, not very atheltic. He also suffered from several foot injruies that severely hapmered his development across multiple seasons.
  
  However, everything that I have heard or read, EVER, indicated that he was extremely hardworking, dedicated, and never anything but the best student/athelete Ute imaginable. Other’s closer to the program may jump in here and let me know if I’m wrong.
  
  If I’m right, how do we let that kind of hard work, dedication, potnetial leadership, and our ONLY senior go?
  
  I get that this is all about maximizing the program’s potental, but:
  
  Do we have a center coming in next year that would provide more out of the gate?

    For those who say he’s not really been good for us up until now, that’s hard to argue. It’s pretty well a fact. But I agree that from all accounts he worked hard, was a good student and kid, and IMO, this next year he would have been quite the asset. Much like Batchinsky, he would have been a solid, mature, and reliable role player on a team that desperately needs one in its attempt to crack the NCAA tourney. No two ways about it — losing him was a net loss.

  Jayce was a really good post defender for the PAC 12. Offensively, he suffers from high hips which hurts his leverage in the post game. He also has weak forearms for catching and holding onto the ball. The most frustrating thing for me is his free throw shooting. After 4 years you would think Tommy Connor and company could teach a decent movement. Good luck to him at Marquette. He could thrive. We’ll see.

  I am not trying to be a hater but a realist. This is the culture of college ball now. Football and basketball. But this seems to happen far too often with K. I legitimately think that K is continuing his old school hard a** style, but he doesn’t have the street free cred to play. I mean guys go to school for two reasons to get in the NBA and improve there brand. Guess how you improve your brand the most by being seen. Where are you seen the most in college in the conference tournaments and NCAA. K has one NCAA sweet 16 birth with three NBA players on his team and two very important glue guys in Lovridge,Taylor. It’s the same story every year now. We are terrible in the lde -season over perform in the pac. Lose I the first round and go to the NIT. Then coach talks about how tough and developing the guys are. Then they get developed and leaves. It’s a vicious circle. Wish we could get rid of him but that ship has sailed.

    We have had two players transfer out of the program this year, that is not abnormal at all. One of them was completely outclassed in the Pac12, and he knew it, so he left after one year here. The other tried hard, and is tall. If the guys we have at that position this upcoming year try just as hard, they will do quite a bit better. One of them is, at worst, a 7 ft 4 version of Jayce that can actually hit free throws.

      Jayce had his limitations but always gave everything he had out there on the court.

      They also have Lahat Thioiune, who reshirted last year.
