ParticipantDo any of you complaining idiots remember where this team was at the beginning of the season? Do any of you know what it’s like to watch your friend get shot several times in cold blood, then stand there while he dies knowing there isn’t anything you can do about it?
If it were any other team going up against OSU with a RB playing CB I think every one of us would have assumed the game would be a blowout.
This team went waaaay further than anyone thought they would after game 1.
Do any of you morons actually think the coaches would have played Bernard at CB if there were any other legitimate options??? I am sure there were injuries to depth guys that we don’t know about. Also, we did have a guy that would have done a much better job filling in than Bernard, but yeah… He’s dead, got shot many times in front of his friends who are also on the football team.
Our coaches aren’t that stupid guys. There is no way in hell they would have played Bernard if he wasn’t the obvious choice there.
We lost because Ohio State is a more talented team, and it isn’t close. We almost won because these guys played hard, and were extremely well coached. A team like us has no business being in that game.
This was our second or third best team ever before injuries ruined our secondary. If broughton was playhing we win that game rather easily. His length alone would have stopped at least one of those touchdowns. That being said, he got hurt, and that’s what happens in CFB.
The way things are in college football it isn’t designed for teams like Utah to beat teams like OSU when it matters most.
The defense could have done a few things differently. I think blitzing over and over was a mistake. We clearly weren’t getting any pressure, we needed to give our defensive backs more help. Their offensive line was just too much for our defensive line to overcome.
Ludwig could have done things a little differently as well. The only thing I would say Ludwig needs to improve on going forward is calling plays short of the line to gain in the hope that our guy can run with the ball long enough to get the first down. That strategy failed more than it worked IIRC… In particular, employing that strategy with a TE that clearly should not be running at all is probably not the best idea.
To be honest, I have zero complaints with this team. It was a great game. The more talented team won the game.
Despite the fact that our secondary was completely decimated, Clark Phillips played an excellent game. He is the reason that game wasn’t a complete blowout.

ParticipantYou are missing the point, we aren’t mad at Bernard. He was playing out of position. I’m mad at the coach’s for having a scheme that left him on an island all night and kept putting him in one on one positions where he got hit a$$ kicked all night. We should have switched to zone or basically tried anything but we kept running man on man and it cost us the game. Who ever Bernard was guarding would get an easy 10 yard catch and then Bernard couldn’t tackle him for another 5 yards. Frustrating game plan over all

ParticipantCoaches make bad decsions sometimes. Its okay for fans to point those out. Its what fans do. Remember this coaching staff also didnt start Rising at the start of the season. Do you thibk that was the best choice? Do you thibk the coaches themselves thing that was the best decision?

ParticipantNobody is hating on bernard. He played his heart out. Coaches left him out to dry.
