There just isn’t any data on the effect of an extremely long tenured Head Coach stepping down and the trajectory of the program after. Tom Osbourne, Joe Paterno & Bobby Bowden are probably the only 3 this century that would qualify and Nick Saban is happening in real time. Frank Solich and Jimbo Fisher were able to have success almost…[Read more]

Have we had a Dallen Engemann sighting? After him you’re pretty much having to press kids who played QB in HS to run scout team and learn break glass in case of emergency packages.

Add in Arizona. It was plenty loud until Fifita tossed a couple of daggers to effectively end the game. Fan support has not been the issue which is why it’s so strange that people bring it up.
If there’s a problem getting people into their seats, or them leaving before the final whistle, start looking at logistics and game times before blaming…[Read more]

That’s a pretty good ceiling. Only takes a couple of opportune breaks to go your way to turn that into 11-1.

Agree with your premise but it doesn’t apply to Washington. They were always going to be decimated because of everything they were losing to the draft. Then they got hit by DeBoer leaving after signing day and the portal had closed. DeBoer took just about anyone worthwhile with him to Bama and Fisch wasn’t able to convince everyone he wanted to…[Read more]

There’s a clip of the play on another thread but it’s from a phone on the wrong side of the field. not sure you would be able to see action involving Rose. It was the Kuithe 2nd TD thread

I love the #Pac12Refs angle. Everyone thought Utah was getting away from them and I said over and over that the Big 12 was going to have to get the extra officials for 4 more games a week from somewhere.

Good teams can use that outside stuff to motivate them, just like Michael Jordan used to create controversies in his own mind. If bad teams focus on anything besides fixing their own internal issues, they are setting themselves up for failure. And Utah is the textbook definition of a bad team right now.

And even with all of that, if Colorado ponies up equivalent money do you make the move? Cuz no one will question what he does in Boulder going forward. And they can probably pay whatever salary he wants just out of the Prime merch sales.
Play a Big 12 schedule every year which increases your profile and chances of the playoffs. Beat your head…[Read more]

Bottari should have been a legitimate option after game 3. He’s got the Drew Lisk magic and Whitt’s keeping that genie in the bottle to his own detriment. Unleash the beard!

I don’t see how Utah gets up for the UCF game unless it’s to get bowl eligible which requires winning against Colorado or Iowa State. And if Utah isn’t motivated, UCF could end up with 400 yards rushing since that has been the Utah D weakness this year.
Everything pointed to a potential UCF loss when the schedule came out. But it would be so…[Read more]

fully agree. Really, the only complaint I can come up with for Harding is that he’s not having the same success recruiting interior linemen as he is with tackles. Unless Garcia and Alderman can move inside, I’m not sure they will see the field until Fano & Lomu leave or get hurt.
Tackles get a lot of credit but elite guards are really hard to…[Read more]

The good thing about being the prettiest girl at the dance is you get to pick which guys you’ll pay attention to.
Jackson State and Colorado were schools willing to take a chance on a coach whose style score outweighed his resume. He’s now proven that he can outrecruit the standard at those schools while also winning games at a rate not achieved…[Read more]

Those are pretty close to the 2023 numbers. Since it’s not being used to light the U anymore, someone needs to wire that detonator device to the offensive coaches offices and take them to rubble. Anything short of a complete rebuild at this point is a waste of effort and resources.

Cal & Stanford took massive pay cuts. SMU agreed to ZERO tv revenue for 9 years to get to move up. Private schools like Stanford & SMU can afford to do those kinds of things. Cal could only afford to because UCLA is giving them half of their B1G money as a condition of being allowed to leave Cal behind.
