Still a walk-on. Not everyone who walks on at Utah has had a scholarship offer.

hmmm, can’t see any potential problems with that
2008 National Champ replied to the topic Texas/OU move to SEC delayed? in the forum Football 19 hours, 31 minutes ago
Many schools have been able to buy their way out of contracted leave dates so I guess there’s been an expectation that everyone will do so. For the G5 conferences that only get a couple million a year, it’s a net gain to pay the buyout and move up. Texas/OU probably would have had to pay a big enough buyout that it would negate anything extra…[Read more]

Folsom is Sacramento so I’m not sure it’s any farther to Los Angeles than Salt Lake. His future road opponents will definitely involve more travel for his family.

The WAC and the Atlantic Sun conferences are going to merge and form a 10 team FBS conference in either 2025 or 2026. Cal Poly isn’t one of the schools but Utah Tech and Southern Utah are.

5* Sam Huard and 4* Ethan Calvert have both committed out of the portal. There’s also rumors that 4* WR Lonyatta Alexander will commit.
That’s quite the haul for an FCS program

That extensive experience you are giving Dykes credit for was going 19-30 in 4 years at Cal. He ran his dad’s schemes, couldn’t figure out how to spell defense let alone coach it and needed Jared Goff to throw for 4700 yards to get his only P5 winning season. Anyone who thought he was a home run hire who would put TCU in the playoff his first…[Read more]

I’m not predicting 6 wins, just pointing out the possibilities. As TCU and USC proved, it doesn’t take 3-5 years to go from sucking to relevant or better because you can bring in players out of the portal who are ready to play immediately.
Personally, I think that Colorado’s ceiling this year is roughly the same as Arizona in 2022. They lost so…[Read more]

I’m always on board for a big man TD. My money would be on Tafuna but Pepa would be enshrined on the Jumbotron if it happened.

I think all of the “bottom 6” in the conference are beatable and Colorado gets 3 of them – Stanford, Arizona, ASU. If you assume they can handle Colorado State that’s 4. Rhule may get Nebraska to being a contender in the B1G again but I wouldn’t expect them to be much, if any farther along that path than Colorado so that’s 5 possible.
If…[Read more]

I didn’t know either and the google-ator doesn’t really clear it up. Looks like it went from being a line to a subsidiary in 2017 and then in 2022 it started operating independently. Can’t really tell if Nike still owns a stake but you were probably more right than I was.

why do you feel the need to compare Utah to the parochial school? what happens in Provo has been irrelevant to Utah for over a decade

Bowers will go in the first round next year so won’t be a consideration for Lyons. If he thinks he can compete with others in this class, why wouldn’t he go there?

It took Phillips 2 fall camps, 1 spring camp and roughly a full season’s worth of games to play at the high level you think all of these new kids can get to in half a season.
If freshman are able to come in and be better than established players they should absolutely play. But I think it’s folly to expect all of them to do so. Jaylon Glover…[Read more]

Because of work, I had to listen online but at least I could get the 700AM feed. Came back into the room in time to catch the Covey/Hobbs punt return that even fooled the announcing team. Wish I’d been able to follow the whole game because when you only have time for score updates, it’s nowhere near as satisfying.
