GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic A 5-10 min stretch last night Lovering was the best player on the court in the forum Basketball (Men) 3 months, 1 week ago
It’s interesting how our recent win streak has come about as we’ve gotten more aggressive inside and made a conscious effort to get the ball into the low block. Through most of the non-conference schedule we lived and died by the three – we were the top 3-point team in the country for a while. Now, obviously it really helped our inside presence…[Read more]

I agree with everything you said. But you didn’t answer my question. Do you still invest in going to football games despite our passing percentage being 103rd in D1 this past season? And if yes, why the difference?
I’m not trying to noodle you…I’m just curious about how fan psychology works and this is a particularly interesting one to me.

This is why I don’t want to really invest in going to the games. Look at how pathetic that percentage is.
I get what you’re saying, but do you still invest in going to football games despite our passing percentage being 103rd in D1 this past season? If yes, why the difference?

It’s worth pointing out that Lawson’s BPM of 5.5 is still really good. That’s NBA All-Star level. And if Ezra and Hunter were able to maintain their BPM, they would both be All-Americans.
The highest BPM over the course of an entire NBA season was Jokic in 2021-2022. His BPM was 13.7.

I love this bigger lineup. The length makes up for some of our subpar athleticism. It seems to be causing opponents some problems around the rim on both ends of the court.
Tonight I’m especially encouraged that we can have an off shooting night and still get a wire-to-wire road win.

This would be the least shocking thing ever. He was only doing what he did to help his kid get to the next level.
Deion Sanders is basically that one a-hole dad you’ve all seen at your kids’ sports games, except that he was actually a star and his kid is actually pretty good.

Not to move the goalposts, but it could be worse: Imagine being a BYU-Provo Campus basketball fan. They’ve got a sugar daddy, they’re all-in on basketball, they’ve put together the best roster money can buy…and they’re still getting clobbered in the Big 12. Everyone there is down bad right now.
Yeah we’re getting clobbered too, but the…[Read more]

Well, hell, if they’re going to do that then just get rid of the MBB program and save all of us our time, money and aggravation.
If I take that to its absurd extreme, shouldn’t we just get rid of all sports that we don’t routinely win national championships in? Because let’s face it: Football is going to win exactly as many trophies next y…[Read more]

I tend to think you’re right. Sure, we can fire Craig…but what happens next? Do we really think the university is going to suddenly shell out the money and hire a home run coach? And do we think the next coach is going to suddenly uncover a whole bunch of NIL money to buy better players? Or do we think he’ll be such a great recruiter that he’ll…[Read more]

Yeah there were more than a few, and most of them were more than a little ambitious. Seems like there’s some gloryhunting going on against these crap teams we’ve been playing lately. It’s tempting to try to get on SC Top 10 when you’re already up by 35.

He’s 10th in the nation in scoring – I don’t mind him missing a dunk or two if the threes keep dropping. 🙂

GameForAnyFuss replied to the topic Hunter Erickson in the Starting Lineup in the forum Basketball (Men) 4 months, 1 week ago
It was actually hilarious to see Hunter get the start and lay one of the biggest eggs I’ve ever seen. Meanwhile, Shark comes off the bench and fills up the stat sheet. Exact opposite of the previous game.
Maybe the solution is to have them alternate starts and just expect whichever one comes off the bench to have a great game.

Meh, I appreciate it but it’s OK. I don’t base my self esteem on my utehump vote count. Since I’ve had 2 kids play NCAA sports, my perspective on what college sports are really about is probably different from most peoples’ perspectives. To me, college sports are more about developing student-athletes into adults and teaching them skills that will…[Read more]

If your boss doesn’t think you are worth paying attention to, just stick it out anyway? Come on. You don’t believe that, and you wouldn’t tell your kid that either.
Funny you should mention that. I do have a kid playing an NCAA sport right now (not at Utah), and he’s thinking of transferring. Some issues with the team and with his playing time.…[Read more]

I disagree, but for different reasons that others have given. I simply don’t like the message that the portal sends to these kids: That if you’re not getting what you want, just quit and go somewhere else and keep doing that until you do get what you want. At an impressionable age, we should be trying to teach our young people the opposite.
