Is tampering actually illegal any longer? On paper, maybe. I am no expert, and truly do not know so I’m throwing this out there.

If the NCAA no longer has any teeth or much ability to reign in misbehavior, really, what’s the worst that could happen to an institution or coaching staff? Seriously? What recourse does the NCAA have in an NIL world?

If this NIL ecosystem is going to continue to move forward in college sports, there needs to be clear rules and penalties and an overarching governing enforcement organization. It’s so fluid right now, and the NCAA feels very much like it’s in the death knell. I keep waiting for some new guiding entity to emerge whose rulings are honored and respected. But I’m not sure that group exists today.

I wish I could get my hands on a “welcome home” Al Jensen shirt. Looks like they gave them to everyone in attendance.

Several reports indicated Andre tried to join Craig Smith’s staff last year, but Smith ultimately declined. Sounds very much to me like Andre has the interest.

i wish Roots4Utes still streamed on Twitch. Perfect high def game every time. Sadly, looks like they’ve moved on to other piracy platforms

Today is always my favorite day for college football. It holds so much promise, optimism, and hope.

Today, we’re undefeated. On paper, it looks like we have damned good team and as much potential as I’ve ever seen in my 35 years as a Utah fan. I also love the tough, dare I say, professional approach our coaching staff has brought to the hill. These guys really prepare well.

Today, we have a shot at our 1st Big 12 title, and the playoffs. Hell, today a natty is a possibility.

Fingers crossed that the Utes want it every bit as much as we do (I suspect they want those things even more). Fingers crossed that the key guys stay healthy, and that our receiver corp is as improved as they seem to be. Fingers crossed that the running game gets going, and teams can’t stop the threat on both the ground and through the air. Fingers crossed that that nasty and aggressive defensive mind set kicks in like it usually does at Utah, and embodies the Sack Lake City mentality we’ve seen recently. Fingers crossed that our defense intercepts every damn fool who dares throw on us (& some pick 6’s along the way).

Today is the best day to be a Utah football fan.

Someone else said it above, PE will siphon off any positive financial progress any NCAA conference could make. Slit the wrist and drain the blood. Yikes.

There needs to be some guardrails around what amateur athletes can earn through NIL, maybe directly tied to tiers and the athlete’s potential to generate an expected amount of revenue. What’s going on out there now is simply unsustainable for any conference or university in the long-term.

when your pool hits the 90’s, folks usually stay indoors. we had an AC unit on an old pool in PHX. it made that $600 electric bill hit $800+.

nothing refreshing about a pool in PHX in July, sadly.

the statement it makes is that there’s unity. that’s good enough for me.
