Well now…shill alert…is Utah State still playing? LOL..I have no choice but to let Smith “work his magic” as you so profoundly exclaim, seeing as he’s got four more years left on his contract. Hell, it wouldn’t surprise me if Harlan the Magician extends Smith next year if the Utes once again put up a “winning” season. As Mike Florio once…[Read more]

Rollie would be better served running the 2nd unit, and being the 6th or 7th man in my opinion.
My opinion is that Utah’s roster is entirely filled with this type of player with the possible exception of Carlson. Any future success is really all down to Smith and his staff and how well they can recruit and develop players. Also crazy to think…[Read more]

Lovering averaged over 22 minutes a game this season. How many more reps than that do you need to make a legitimate assessment on the guy? We’ll see how he shakes out but thinking that he’s going to take a “Great Leap Forward” with Utah is probably wishful thinking.

Yes, she is… that’s the main reason why I thought him coming back for the 23-24 season was pretty much a given. If he leaves her and his family here, without any chance of getting drafted, to pursue a non-NBA professional dream, well, that tells me a lot about the state of the program.

Aaaaaah…Justin Bibbins…one of my favorite all-time Utes, even if he only played one season with us. He was literally the “Little Engine That Could”…that kid had the heart of a lion…how I wish we could get a few guys like him…

Not sure why Carlson wouldn’t stay and use up his eligibility. I haven’t seen one NBA Mock Draft where he even gets drafted. At this point, his best bet to play professionally would be the G League or somewhere in Europe.

LOL, how easily impressed is this fanbase. I saw this guy play a few times this season…he’s just a big version of “just a guy” and doesn’t even begin to move the needle. Last season he only averaged less than 5 PPG in a resoundingly mediocre Colorado team and was a horrible FT shooter at just over 40 percent. His biggest pro is that he might…[Read more]

I would not call them bad before Lute.
These were the Wildcats’ season records in the four seasons before Lute Olson arrived in Tucson.
1982: 4-24
1981: 9-18
1980: 13-14
1979: 12-15
Yeah, based on that, I’d say that they were pretty bad bordering on horrific. Prior to that, as you probably remember, they had a decent run under Fred Snowden,…[Read more]

Yeah, I’m sorry, I appreciate your well thought out comments, particularly when it comes to football but I’m not buying it. Smith has been a head coach for almost a decade with three different teams and has been to the NCAAs multiple times prior to Utah…to say that we need to “grow” him, well, I think that train left the station years ago. He…[Read more]

Sounds like he’ll be weighing all of his options before coming to a final decision. I imagine he and his team of advisors will look at where he could be drafted and go on from there. Hint…no NBA mock draft I’ve seen has him among the top 45 guys eligible but maybe he’ll go to the G League or Europe.

Regarding Lazar, well, he’s just a guy…it’s not like he’s going to transfer to another P5 program and turn into Pete Maravich. On a good to great program, he’d be, at best, maybe the 8th to 9th guy off the bench. It just shows how low Utah basketball has sunk that he was getting major minutes every game with he Utes.

I’ve been saying since the day Smith was hired, a hire I was not in agreement with and you can look that up, that I would give him three solid years to see what he can do. Up to this point, the returns have been pretty mediocre. Yeah, I know that Smith has plenty of shills on this website that continue to go about what a great coach he is but…[Read more]

The Lions are a possibility. They have the 18th pick (their second pick in the 1st RD) and I could see Kincaid heading there if the Packers pass on him.

I guess my biggest gripe this past season is Smith’s inability to take advantage of Saunders, who I believe was one of the most talented players in the squad. I was sitting there in the second row of the Huntsman and watched Saunders torch UCLA for 25 points in just 24 minutes, single-handedly keep the Utes in the game, and look legit doing so.…[Read more]

Here’s the writeup:
15. GREEN BACK PACKERS: TE DALTON KINCAID, UTAH
You’d like him to be a little bigger to make defenses respect him as a blocker, but he’s the best receiving tight end in the class.

I hope he likes playing in the Southland Conference…I guess it beats sitting on the bench at Utah.
