So, you would have made the same call, go for it with a QB sneak? When a defense knows what’s coming and loads the box what is going to mitigate that? The OL had to be the motivating factor and they haven’t been a mitigating factor. You’re entitled to your take, but my take is still that was a poor combination of decision and play call given…[Read more]

This looked like Pre-2018. Play calling went ultra conservative. Coaches to blame for this one.

Consistent with what we saw. Tupai, Sewell, and Fotu all standouts. I have questioned both Sewell and Tafua previously. Happy to see Sewell step it up, Tafua still not generating pressure.

Was at 1993 and 1994 BYU game, ’93 game in Provo was a turning point for the program. Was at 1994 Colorado State game in Ft Collins. Harold Lusk 100 yd pick six to seal the win, should have gone undefeated that year. BYU 1994, Freedom Bowl 1994, TCU 2008 (freezing!), and BYU 2008.

Fine, maybe it’s a better fit and we know he will be coached up, but he comes to us as a 2 star transfer from Nevada who looked lost in a couple of games played, admittedly a situation. I would rather our LB starting options offer more ready and talented (TBD) candidates.

Eddie passed away today from cancer at age of 65. Saw them in ’93 at then Parkwest with Sammy, but preferred their older stuff with Dave. Any VH fans out there? BTW – anyone go to Utah football games in the 90’s and sit in or around the student section? Anyone remember the guy that wore the red and white shirt patterned after Eddie’s guitar…[Read more]

I don’t have access either, but it looks like the latter. Bartle is going to only promote recruiting in his speculative articles. Also, article picture is of Raider Damuni who is a BYU commit. Interesting choice for a player example because his Dad is head of recruiting at BYU. I would think there’s zero chance he goes anywhere but BYU. What…[Read more]

Right, have to believe that the first game to get cancelled would be the last game, but it could be circumstantial as well.
Yergensen replied to the topic BREAKING: New 2020 Utah Football Schedule in the forum Football 6 months, 4 weeks ago
What do you think of our last 5 games? Tough to say the least, but more of them at home. Eagle Mountain makes a good point even without fans, playing SC at home in November is a U advantage that the league has typically subjected UCLA to, but never USC.

Any indication with this release as to why the shuffle of the original schedule for example Colorado in week 2? Also, where are the bye weeks?
Yergensen replied to the topic Position battle: Running backs in the forum Football 6 months, 4 weeks ago
IMO- All of the backs are still unproven. For me Wilmore has to prove he can run between the tackles, he didn’t do it well last year. Brumfield needs to prove he can break a big play, that he’s more than a short yardage back. I think it will take several games before the long term RB1 breaks out and wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Micah Bernard.

Dresden and MFaulk, both rational and objective perspectives and comments. However, I don’t think this approach applies to 4* recruits targeted by Utah. I believe barring behavioral issues that might pop up during due diligence, we’ll take any 4* talent that we offer and begin the process with…just one fan’s 2 cent opinion.

Racist outrage? Is that what emanated from my post? Because I’m blind with rage I will need you to walk me through how you reached that conclusion.
Yergensen replied to the topic Will Latu status? in the forum Football 8 months, 2 weeks ago
I appreciate all that OnlyU brings to this board and don’t mean to bite the hand the feeds, but it doesn’t make sense to me. A week ago we’re in Latu’s final two and now we’re moving on from him because of fit? We find fits for talented players all over the field. This development coincides with the Scalley news. To me, it looks like Latu is…[Read more]

Yergensen replied to the topic If Juarez really isn’t coming, in the forum Football 1 year ago
No thanks. I thought Sewell was out of position and/or couldn’t tackle in the 2 games he played. A couple more guys that might be in the mix; Mataafa was a good recruit a couple years back and Fotu from this year’s class.
Yergensen replied to the topic Rumor in the forum Football 1 year ago
Would you have considered Moss a big loss if he had transferred after his low use Freshman year? After Moss, DHC was next most productive with his touches last year. I believe in science. As long as the sample size is adequate, stats and metrics can be predictors and translators of success.
Yergensen replied to the topic Rumor in the forum Football 1 year ago
DHC converted to LDS Church. He knows coaches at both schools. Would be a big upgrade at either school, big loss for us. Wish him the best of true, don’t want him going south and playing against us.
