Been crunching some numbers.  It turns out Utah is a combined 6-1 during the months of October 2014 and 2015.  That’s the good news.

The bad news is we are a combined 4-5 during the months of November 2014 and 2015.  In fact, we’ve struggled in November ever since we joined the Pac-12 (with the exception of 2011–when we would have been 4-0 in November if we hadn’t screwed it up in a game that shall not be mentioned). From 2012 to 2015, we’re a combined 7-10 in November.  Four of those seven wins came against Colorado–and each of those were near-misses.

Poor play late in the season is indicative of poor depth, which was initially an issue when we joined the Pac-12.  It’s not an issue anymore, so hopefully we can finish the season strong this year.

It could also be a symptom of playing nothing but PAC-12 opponents during the month. If I remember right, there could be a non-conference opponent or two scattered in there during early October. Then again I could be wrong.

EDIT: I’m too lazy to do the research. So sue me.

The only non-conference game Utah has played during the last five Octobers was at Pitt in 2011.

You’ll be hearing from my lawyer.
