    Once we get the streak to double digits this year, I’d like to see Harlan pare back the frequency of the rivalry game…maybe play them every 3 years or something. I think rivalry games are what make college football special and therefore I don’t want to see it go away entirely. But now that we’re P5 and they’re still a mid-major, I don’t think it makes sense playing them every year anymore. Just my opinion, no need to flame away at me if you disagree.

      They tend to be our best non conference game, but now we’re scheduling other p5’s like Baylor and Florida which is nice. We should go 2 home 1 away with them but that will never happen.

        I hear ya, if it has to be every year it should at least be 2 home for every 1 down south. But I do think we’d be better scheduling our “B” game against G5’s in recruiting hot spots like against Houston, USF, SDSU, Fresno St etc…vs BYU every year. Then either continue adding a 10th P5 as our A game and a low level G5 or FCS as our “C” game OR 2 decent G5 opponents as “B” games and 1 low level “C” game. Although I wish the P5s came out with a rule of no more scheduling FCS games.

        Yeah, BYU-Provo Campus would never do a 2 for 1. That would be essentially admitting defeat…admitting that they lost the arms race to us.

  There are better teams and people to be rivals with. Rivalry doesn’t have to be hating the other team any more than love has to be getting gaslighted by some asshole. An annual tailgate in Salt Lake or Boulder at the Rocky Mountain C**ktail Party with Buffs fans would be fun. If we could invite enough Buffs to Guardsman or wherever and it goes well, it could take off after a few years. A get together of a few hundred people representing both teams before the game each year could turn into a ton of national hype and totally change the Utah brand. Could you imagine how well we would travel if that became a thing. Let’s work on that.
