Jake replied to the topic So what do you think about the potential of the 2023 team? in the forum Football 2 weeks, 2 days ago
I think linebacker can be a big net positive. It might’ve been our weakest position group last year. Damuni is a big experience add, and Barton was continually getting better as the year went on. Medlock continues to improve and I believe we get Fotu back from his mission and he got plenty of playing time as a freshman and looked good. I hope t…[Read more]
Jake replied to the topic Possible Unpopular Opinion on Tavion Thomas in the forum Football 3 weeks, 2 days ago
He was a glorified short yardage back. His vision allowed him to hit the right holes to get into the end zone or the first down. Outside of that, he wastes his frame. He’s nearly 6-3 230 and goes down at any contact that isn’t a weak arm tackle. He never lowered his pads to punish a dude like Moss continually did. He’s also way too slow. After…[Read more]

I would disagree that he’s anywhere near the most talented back we’ve had. He’s way too slow to be an every down back, and goes down way too easy for being ~6’3 230.
Jake replied to the topic Someone try and take off my rose colored goggles for 2023-24, please. in the forum Football 3 weeks, 3 days ago
Despite being much smaller Moss was a much more physical runner than Tavion was, and was faster. Tavion tan like a lineman. Tavion short yardage vision got him his touchdowns, but he vastly underutilized his frame

Only one who gave his all during that 2021 TSPP game
Jake replied to the topic Micah Bernard to transfer in the forum Football 1 month ago
JJ will clearly be the man, interesting to see who comes out 2nd between Curry and Glover and maybe one of the freshman. Hope Curry stays, but it’s a crowded room even without Micah so we’ll see.
Jake replied to the topic Micah Bernard to transfer in the forum Football 1 month ago
Surprised but makes sense. 6 4* running backs on the team for next year, if you count JJ as he was a QB. I wouldn’t be surprised if Parks or Curry transfer either.
Bummed, was one of my top 3 favorite Utes these past 2 years

Excited about next years defense, lots of question marks on offense. Damuni coming in and Fotu getting back from his mission will solidify the LB room while Barton and Medlock will get better. Hopefully coaches don’t just give Karene his job back because he was a starter. Ritchie comes back and probably settles into FS. Played SS with us as a f…[Read more]

Good for Vaki going back to back. And you can’t say no if Rising shows up on your doorstep.
Jake replied to the topic Missions in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Not really sure on this class. If we get Walker Lions, I know he’s a mission kid. But we have Ritchie and Fotu returning, who both started as freshman, and will fill needs coming back so that’s going to be nice.
Jake replied to the topic What's the story with Michael Mitchell? in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Some players wait til later in the day or til the later signing period. But with getting Randle and having Stanley as well, a decommit from one of the RB’s wouldn’t be too surprising.
Jake replied to the topic What's the latest on John Randle Jr? in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
I can see why. He’s extremely athletic. He’s shifty, fast, has good vision, and it’s afraid to lower his head either. Would be a great pickup.
Jake replied to the topic What's the latest on John Randle Jr? in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Would be interesting if we picked him up. Already have Michael Mitchell committed, as well as Dijon Stanley who also plays running back (listed as an athlete, maybe we like him at another position). I wonder if getting Randle would cause one of them to decommit.
Jake replied to the topic It appears that Cam Rising will be leaving in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
I mean no disrespect to him, and he filled in well. But he is not a player that starts for us for a whole season if we want to win 9+ games.
Jake replied to the topic It appears that Cam Rising will be leaving in the forum Football 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Replace Barnes with Rose. Barnes is not a P5 starter.
Jake replied to the topic I am a big Cam Rising fan and am so happy that he is a Ute. in the forum Football 2 months, 4 weeks ago
Barnes was as inaccurate as 70% Cam without having to deal with the heavy rain, wind, and injury. And teams can’t afford to stack the box as much against Cam, where they will against Barnes. But Stanford is terrible.
Jake replied to the topic Kamo’i Latu in the forum Football 3 months, 1 week ago
Cant blame him, we have some great depth at safety. Vaki and Isbell, and we get Ritchie back next year I believe.
Jake replied to the topic Long Winded 2¢ in the forum Football 3 months, 1 week ago
I know what you’re saying. And I agree Barnes is a better option at the moment that Johnson or Rose. But like you said, he’s not the future. But Ill take a job if they offer me haha.
Jake replied to the topic Long Winded 2¢ in the forum Football 3 months, 1 week ago
With our depth at safety moving Bishop could be a great move. Next year we’ll have Vaki, Isbell, and Ritchie comes back
