MINNEAPOLIS — The University of St. Thomas, a Division III school that was “involuntarily” removed from its league because it was too dominant has made the jump to Division I athletics.

The Tommies, expelled from the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for “competitive” reasons, compete in the Summit League for most sports, and begin conference play in the Pioneer League for football this season.

Before the Tommies compete in the Pioneer League, they must first survive a trip to the Copper Country and a date with the D-II Michigan Tech Huskies at 11:10a MT.
