  Obviously the O-Line played a lot better against USC. But (without going back and watching it again) it seemed to me that USC played more vanilla up front, and didn’t blitz or call exotic stunts nearly as much as it seemed we saw against BYU and SDSU. Was I the only one that noticed this? Or am I wrong? I can only think of a couple of plays USC brought pressure off the top of my head (though Utah did pick it up in those instances).
  
  The guys up front did a better job one-on-one. But in the prior games they seemed to really struggle with picking up the correct assignments when the D brought pressure. Seemed like it really surprised them against BYU, and then they hadn’t improved by SDSU. And ASU will probably bring a lot more pressure too. I think this week will be a much better gauge of the improvement up front, and Rising’s ability to make the correct reads when the D blitzes. Hopefully they’re up to the task.

  I haven’t gone back and re-watched the game but it does seem like there were fewer blitzes than past games. It also seems like the Utes blocked more with tight ends and that may have something to do with it.
  Something about the OL worth mentioning is that Bam was the Utes highest graded offensive player per PFF. If you told me that would happen two weeks ago, I’d say you’re nuts, but good for him. I hope he keeps it up.

  The jury is still out IMO. We don’t know if USC is any good or not. We’ll find out where our OL is against ASU.

  The Oline is improving which is what we needed to see. Crazy how many young guys are balling out on both sides of the ball. Utes again are going to need play their physical game against ASU. USC game was a huge win and Utes got reps against athletic, fast players they will see again against ASU. This game is going to be a physical battle.
  
  Rising is the real deal. He made some big time throws we have not seen for many years from a QB at Utah. His team leadership is obvioius the way his team mates interact with him. RES is goiing to be loud and on fire this weekend. Like him or not, Herm’s doing a solid job at ASU and he shows a lot of respect for Utah football and KW.
