Utah outlasted Marquette 12-11 in Milwaukee this afternoon, in M-Lacrosse

      After building up a comfortable 4-1 lead midway thru the 1st-Qtr, Utah (2-1) inexplicably let the Eagles back into the game.  At one point during the match, Marquette (1-2) even took the lead.  

      Marquette managed to find the back of the net with 36-sec to play, to close the gap from 12-10 to 12-11, but Utah clamped down on Defense, and held on for the win.

      Utah’s win over MU marked our first win over a ‘major conference’ opponent.  Just as the SEC and BigTen are the big dogs in football, the lacrosse world is ruled by the ACC, BigTen, and Big East.

      Up next:  #15 Jacksonville, on the road.  Big game!

      Interesting factoid in that game:  One of the officials’ names was “Rick Majerus”.  He has to be some nephew or cousin of our Big Rick — who for the record was a Milwaukee native, who’d played on Marquette’s freshman team back in 1967, before converting to a student assistant and coach.
