I don’t follow BB recruiting as much as football, so can someone tell me how we’re going to be a better team after losing Bibbins and Collette?

Bibbins was really the only leader of this team and Collette, even though he struggled early in the season, really turned into a pretty good center.

Do we have some amazing talent coming in that I’m not aware of?

The ’18 class is the best we’ve had in a LONG time (I think ’15 or ’16 was rated higher, but just barely). Lots of upside and really talented players across the board. Two kids coming in the backcourt that should contribute immediately and probably the most exciting SF prospect we’ve had in a while in Timmy Allen.

They have to pan out of course, but add them to the young talent already on the team there is good reason for optimism.

Not to mention the two bigs coming in…Battin and Thioune. Both are pretty well regarded. Reinforcements are on the way! Look for the Doutrive kid that is sitting out this year to have an immediate impact next year.

Hopefully these new recruits can come in with a proper attitude and be ready to play as a team.

Tough sometimes for a young player used to being the star of his high school team and have everything be about him to adjust to being just one part of group.

But the next few years do show a lot of potential.

It’s always “next year” isn’t it? Joking, but not joking.

Counting on a bunch of new (young) players to immediately do well? I’d really temper those expectations. Lower expectations 😉

This team exceeded expectations, and is still nothing more than an NIT team. Same as last year. Teams will pick the Utes apart in the middle next year. Jayce just hasn’t progressed. Maybe he will have a fantastic off season, maybe not.

I’d expect another NIT team next year. But first we should probably wait for any surprising announcements of players leaving. It’s been the norm for the Utes.

And, it will be interesting to watch ticket sales for next year. Huge drop off in season ticket sales this year. Another NIT season? Might be some good seats available in a few months!

If I still lived in Utah I would be purchasing season tickets to Utah basketball immediately.

IMO this is easily the best recruiting class we have had since majerus. It isn’t just the class coming in this year, it’s doutrive from last year and Chris Jones’ boy next class also.

This class has some awesome guards, wings, and big guys. I would be shocked if either the 15 or 16 class was better than this one.
