  • I get that…but what about if the recruit isn’t LDS? Rick Walker just mentioned that only two percent of the students there aren’t LDS. Wouldn’t BYU have to way, way overpay to get some non-LDS kid to go there (or maybe some Jack Mormom kid as well)?

  • Because Ryan Smith has really deep pockets. Utah needs to step up in NIL or Ryan Smith, I mean BYU, will get all of the good local recruits.

  • I have wanted Harlan fired before this.

But his behavior after that game is not just a straw to break the camels back. It is a RPG to the back.

  • Because Nebraska has been irrelevant since they got dismantled by Miami in the 2002 Rose Bowl while Oregon has been in the mix, in some way or other, since Phil Knight (who’s worth around $35B) started directly funding them. That’s never changing now. They also have the wealthiest NIL collective in Division Street and can outbid any team in the…[Read more]

  • I think one if the big difference is the situation in which they were called. If the facemask wasn’t called the Utes would have been at 2nd and 18. They were moving the ball at that time and in the next 2 plays moved the ball 15 or 16 yards. Would the finish of the run been more aggressive if they only need a yard or two? It’s likely

    If the…[Read more]

  • Yeah, not much chance Jim McMahon was ever going to follow an honor code. Sounds like Z Wilson got away with whatever he wanted if the rumors were true and I even heard about Jake Heaps’s exploits when I was working in California.

  • Some of the best and wildest parties I went to in college, 20 years ago, were in provo. It was a strange scene though, because most of the time the girls would put their clothes back on once someone showed up with alcohol ha ha. When they would come north, the lds kids would absolutely rage… Until other lds kids showed up.

    I knew a girl from…[Read more]

  • Add Stanford and, to some extent Notre Dame, to the Ivy’s and the other blue bloods don’t have a chance at outspending them. Maybe Texas could? I don’t remember if it was Texas or A&M that was endowed with oil wells but think it was Texas.

The Ivy’s, Stanford and Notre Dame are each essentially sitting on Elon Musk money and could build the…[Read more]

  • You mean it’s not enforced on athletes?

  • You’re a poet and don’t even know it. You’ve expertly encapsulated the reasons why being in the Big 12 does nothing for me. It’s really nothing personal against the schools, it’s that I liked taking road trips to Seattle, or Oregon, or the Bay Area, or LA and it wasn’t just about the game but the actual destinations where the games took place.…[Read more]

  • Dude, I’m from Miami and went to the University of Miami…the Hurricanes’ real rival are the Gators, which is a rivalry that dates from the early 40s or well before FSU even existed. It was played every year until 1987 when it stopped because the Gators got tired of losing to the Canes. I would equate that rivalry to the Utah vs BYU rivalry…[Read more]

    You.Got.To.Be.Kidding.Me.

Whitt is actually telling the kicker to not kick it into the end zone?!?!
He’s gotta go, he’s killing this program.

  • I’ve been to games in Manhattan, Lawrence, Stillwater, Norman, even went to a game in Tulsa once and none of them involved Utah. Great seats at cheap prices (except Norman) as long as a big name isn’t in town. I’ve also been to games in Corvallis & Pullman. The fans aren’t any less passionate, they’ll gladly share their tailgate both before and…[Read more]

  • Can someone explain to me why a highly touted Utah prep player would prefer playing for BYU versus Utah? Isn’t BYU’s so-called “Code of Honor” an impediment for college-age students? I know that, not coming from an LDS background, that there’s no way that, as an 18 year old, I’d have any interest going to that school. In addition to that, if…[Read more]

  • Outside of very recently, Florida has scheduled OOC like a putz other than the annual game vs the Seminoles. I would say FSU and Miami are also tied together. What I mean when I say that is, when you think of who their rivals are instantly you know for Utah it’s BYU. For Miami, it’s Florida St.

I find it odd some Utah fans try to act like it’…[Read more]

  • Blue Bloods (And others like them) Record This Season:

    1. USC: 4-5/2-5 in CONF
    2. Michigan: 5-5/3-4 in CONF
    3. Washington: 5-5/3-4 in CONF
    4. FSU: 1-9/1-7 in CONF
    5. Nebraska: 5-4/2-4 in CONF

Looks like a few other bigtime programs with more massive investments are doing just as bad or worse than Utah.

  • This will be an unpopular take, but Whitt needs to move on with his life and retire at end of season. He is the reason why the offense has been inept for years with the exception of the good Rising years. If he stays until his contract ends, next year will be a repeat of this year, if not worse! The program has been brought back down to earth in…[Read more]

If this is the case, it’s a great example of analytics being stupid or used incorrectly. All analytics should be is weighing risk/reward ratio. If the analytics are telling them that kicking inside the five, by average, rewards you a few yards of field position WITHOUT weighing the risk, then throw it out. I’m at the point where I believe the sta…[Read more]

  • Why do you say that BYU and Utah are connected at the hip? One is a private institution and the other one is a public institution. You can make a case for both A&M and Texas being connected at the hip since they both belong to the State of Texas, but Utah and BYU? Not so much…there’s absolutely nothing legally connecting the two schools.…[Read more]

  • I would love to hear your explanation on how Oregon (the absolute definition of new money) is more of a blueblood than a school with 5 national titles and a stretch of just under 40 years averaging 10 wins a season. I hate Nebraska, but that’s an incredible feat.

I’ve always gone by this chart.
