The Miami Ute replied to the topic Aaron Dunn Decommits in the forum Football 8 months, 2 weeks ago
USC doesn’t pay much NIL to HS recruits. They prefer to pay mature, upperclassmen from the transfer portal who can contribute immediately. Dunn might well go to USC but it’s highly unlikely that the Trojans made him a financial offer that he can’t refuse.

Meh. I predict he’ll be back with 3 years eligibility remaining.

Dunn going to USC will be interesting. The reason is because USC has a history of not paying much (or stiffing) NIL to HS recruits. The LA Times did a long version story on this issue earlier this year. Riley has also said publicly many times that USC’s method is to reserve its high NIL payouts to guys from the portal who have already proven…[Read more]

I agree with Miami Ute. some things that are common sense here.
got to win games, score points, be fun to watch, score in red zone.
who wants to play for a team averaging 14 points a game -

Utah has to win, and win big, plus have a healthy infusion of NIL dollars if it wants to get the same type of recruits it was getting as the PAC ended. If all we’re doing is going 7-5/9-3, without regular appearances in the CFP, then it’s going to be very hard to be attractive blue-chippers.

Andersen has been out of football for, what, 2-3 years? His last gig was working as an analyst under Jay Hill at Weber State. Yeah, I’d be scratching my head if that’s who the next DC was.

We’re going to lose players to other schools due to NIL, blue bloods, or maybe they have hotter coeds. It’s just going to happen.

Your opinion is more valid than mine? Maybe you don’t know WTF the reason was? Funny how that works champ.

RUUTES replied to the topic Ludwig in the forum Football 8 months, 2 weeks ago
Ludwig seems able to design his plays for 1 QB. And if anything changes he seems lost. If we have a BJ or a Cam and they are solid and healthy then his plan moves forward. But he doesn’t seem to adapt well to a change in the starter. he responds by dialing it all the way back to ultra pasteurized vanilla then trying to seem tricky by tossing…[Read more]

This is what happens when you turn out to be a mid-tier program in the Big XII. Only consistent winning and NIL payouts will fix this situation.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Another example of why chasing recruiting battles in the forum Football 8 months, 2 weeks ago
In sports, as in life, it’s better to do something a year too early than a year too late. By that I mean is that if Whitt has any notion of retiring, it would be best for the program if it happened sooner rather than later.
Obviously, he can stay as long as he wants and his current contract runs for three more seasons. However, what you most…[Read more]

You’d think the vibe currently, back-to-back losses and a instate blue chip de committing would signal to the coaches that changes are needed. Guys need to have fun again.. But I severely underestimate how stubborn hard-headed coaches can be. Even to the detriment of their program.

He brought an NHL team to Utah. I could care less how he dresses. As a hockey fan if the Utah Hockey Club wins a Stanley Cup before the Jazz win an NBA championship he can wear his hat however he wants.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the vibes just have to get better all around the program. Not only do we desperately need a W on Saturday, but we really need it to be high-flying with a lot of guys getting involved and having fun playing for Utah.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic My dream coaching staff in the forum Football 8 months, 2 weeks ago
There’s a lot of good coaches out there. Might want to look a little deeper than just former Utah players that in some cases, have ZERO coaching experience. Let alone filling up a staff with those types.
And how do you think Rowe would work with Scalley? Wasn’t he the leader of the “Scalley is a racist” movement once the texts became public?

When blue chippers start de-committing, it’s bad. I wonder if he knows something about future coaching changes?

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Ludwig in the forum Football 8 months, 2 weeks ago
contact on a rub route is okay as long as the receiver “acts” like he tried to avoid it. that was a great call poorly executed.
Ludwig has good plays at his disposal. He just doesn’t use them. Run the exact same play again. Flip the formation and immediately run the same play to the other side. Line up in the same formation and run a counter…[Read more]
