6′ 10″ kid from Canada, redshirt freshman who didn’t get off the bench at USU under Craig Smith has entered the transfer portal – Liam McChesney…  Interesting to see how this plays out.

Two years at USU. First year was a redshirt and he missed last year after suffering a season ending leg injury.

In conclusion he’s way way way undersized coming off a serious injury and there are much better bigs in the portal

With that said and knowing Smith and his limited ability to recruit I expect Liam to be a Ute by the end of the weak

I found a few highlight videos and a couple of games.  It looks like he can handle the ball a little bit and can shoot from the outside.  He is a stretch 4 or a big 3. He is not the big body they are looking for on the inside.  He looked like a project signing out of high school, a guy with some skills but needed to develop his body and acclimate to better competition. 

If he developed over the past two years, Smith and his guys would know about it, and no one else would.  If we sign him, it could be an under-the-radar get, and if they pass on him, we probably know he is still a project.
