1. USC
2. Colorado
3. Utah
4. fUCLA.USC takes all the cake for most overhyped year in and year out.
-
RustyShacklefordParticipant
Not really fair to call Utah that. Hard to know if Utahs hype was real or not with all the injuries.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
I would say the distance between 1-2 is closer than 3. Still overhyped. Especially considering how the Rising situation played out.
And guess what it seems like we get to do it again for 2024!!

CrowParticipant
Barnes wasn’t even supposed to be the back up QB but because of injuries he was
-
CalimanParticipant
to be fair to BB, he had a better game than N. Fifita, with the exception of the 2 pics, so this game can not be blamed on him.
BB 31/53 for 320 YDS AND 2 TDS
N. FIFITA 22/30 253 YDS AND 2 TDS
UTAH NEEDS A BETTER QB COUCH TO COME IN AND DEVELOP UTE QBS. THE ONE THEY HAVE RIGHT NOW IS ABSOLUTE DOG SHT.-
UtMtBikerParticipant
Without the picks? That’s the single most impactful thing you can do to lose a game, but you just toss that out and say he played better because he threw for 100 more yards?
Is he dating your sister or what?
-
XanthisParticipant
So you’re saying without the picks BB was better and then post stats that prove otherwise? You are only basing your “better” game on yards.
BB – 10.32 yards per completion with 58% completion.
Fifita – 11.5 yards per completion with 73% completion.Even without the picks Fifita had a better game. We all know you are obsessed with BB, but the rest of us know he doesn’t belong in the P5.
-
-
Central Coast UteParticipant
Right. But due to not having a P5 QB, Utah was over rated

It’s absolutely fair. Coaches told people that Rising would be back. Kuithe would be back. That this might be the best team he’s ever had. The offensive line is probably the worst it’s been in 2 years.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
Preseason comments on the Oline really don’t age well. Early excuses of health but by the end of the season they are the worst group on the team.
-
CharlieParticipant
If you move down to QB4, lose the production we have had from the TE group, lose several options from the RB group, go without the starting centner and often become quite predictable, what do you get? You will see defenses attack the QB or the RB giving them no chance. You could bring in the Eagles OL and watch them struggle with these circumstances or you can understand that addressing the items of bad luck is better. We can wait to see if Rising, Kuithe, Bernard, Maea, and a healthy Jackson make a difference. The OL always gets noticed when any piece of the offense breaks down and has zero chance when multiple aspects have issues. I think Oregon or Washington could operate just fine after we traded OLs and we would still have issues. The good news is the OL will be just fine as the other spots get corrected by returning players and additions from the portal.

USC is the obvious answer, and it’s not close. It’s UW after that. Should’ve lost to UO, and looked pedestrian against mediocre competition. On the flip side, UA is the most underrated.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
I guess I made it seem like a choice. No it is a ranking. Utah underperformed and in two games looked completely outclassed. Against OSU the distance offensively was so bad it was pathetic.
-
RedUte14Participant
weird to be over hyped when you are undefeated

What a loser post.

If it is true that we were overhyped, we should see it as a great compliment. Typically that is a sign of an elite program. We have come a long way since the days when we often lost to teams the likes of UTEP and New Mexico.
-
UtahParticipant
Yeah, it’s about damn time we are overrated.
-
EagleMountainUteParticipant
That is how I see it as well obviously for most it is a negative connotation.
Utah largely failed to live up to the hype due to injury. How some replacements took place is up for debate. Many like to twist the facts surrounding that but it is hard to burst bubbles.
Colorado was overhyped because of Coach Prime.
USC didn’t do anything to fix their defense and everyone knew it. I would also say USC has a significant culture problem.
