Does anyone else feel like Utah had an advantage in the PAC-12 in that Utah was the anomaly in style of play in the PAC-12? Utah played defense first and more smash mouth on offense, while almost all other teams played the opposite.

I’m saying Utah was the anomaly in style of play in the PAC-12, and now Utah’s play is a dime a dozen in the BIG 12. Therefore, the advantage Utah had in the PAC-12 is not the same advantage in the BIG 12.

Also, I’m going to throw this dig in here. Let’s say Utah was 9-0 in conference last season. I would still be immensely embarrassed that Utah fans called the conference the truck stop conference. Those Utah fans saying that are not bright thinkers and have low decorum. To say that is either a full of yourself pride thing, or you’re just a total asshole. We can do a lot better. And for the record, I get it, you want to call it that, as your hurt leaving the PAC-12, fine, but do that amongst your friends at your home. Don’t say that publicly.

On the Utah fans discrediting the Big 12, you’re right it’s not and wasn’t ever a good look. But remember there’s history there. In the years leading up to the end of the PAC-12, there were a lot of comparisons to the other conferences and the Big-12 and other CFB fans minimized any accomplishments from the PAC-12 saying it was the weakest conference. Because Utah was one of the top teams for the latter half of the PAC-12, you can see why some fans would take offense to that.

Much different recruiting base. The PAC 12 had California Arizona Utah Oregon and Washington and now Texas as their hotspots. Lots of inner city and large numbers to pick from. More speed and athleticism in skill positions. The Big12 has a Texas-Midwest recruiting. More physical and hard working easy to coach recruits. Similar to what Utah has done in the past.

Last year Colorado (pac12) was the only team that our defense struggled with. Our defense matches better with Big12 offenses. Where we struggled was on offense. Our small frail WR were unable to get through the contact allowed on the outside. More physical play on the d- line and linebackers nullified our power run game. Hopefully the spread offense and a quarterback that can run and extend plays where the receivers can get separation will help. Losing a bigger receiver like Williams really hurts. I expect more motion and roll out pass run options which is what the pac12 did to give us problems defensively.

Is the Big XII really known for defense first and smashmouth offensive football?
