Scalley interview

  I just heard Scalley’s interview form last Friday after practice. He said, “We are not looking for incremental improvement, we are looking for substantial improvement with our defense.”
  
  He said
  
  – We have 6 or 7 guys fighting for the defensive end position. Likes what Gabe Reid brings to the table.
  
  – All of our injured CBs are back and at full strength.
  
  – Diabate is a great athlete and with his length – he will be good at pass coverage.
  
  – He is very high on our safety group. He talks highly about the transfer from Illinois State, Isbell.

  What’s the story on Gabe Reid? Some articles I see him listed at LB; others at DE. Is he a hybrid player? Do we know where the coaches prefer to put him yet?

    GR’s being designated as a DE who will be rushing the QB full-time.

  makes sense. Our defense is very young and talented so everyone kind of assumes they will be much better, but if they dont make a considerable leap this year it lowers our ceiling well below a CFP berth
