The opening scene when Cougar gets scared by the MiG 28 and won’t land because he’s holding on too tight and loses the edge. Twice, both Goose and Merlin say, “let’s land this thing, we’re getting low on gas!”. Really? Gasoline? Would a fighter pilot or co-pilot ever say, “we’re getting low on gas.” Or is gas just a term we use for all fuels?

My dad was a Navy fighter pilot. He once confirmed to me that they would never actually say this.

Instead, they would say “we’re getting f—ing low on f—ing gas.”

I would have thought they said “we’re getting f**king low on f**king fuel.” As in jet fuel.
