I visit Ute Hub regularly, hoping for my latest fix of Utah football news/information/discussion.
I know I don’t contribute much, but I look for an opportunity here and there.
Maybe it is just me, but it seems like the dialogue on this board has become a bit more toxic lately:
– People seem quick to call someone a ‘zoob’ if they don’t agree with a particular flavor of optimism.
– Some of those same ‘die-hard Ute’ fans can’t seem to stop talking about BYU for some reason.
– Some effort to seemingly drive away newer users who don’t necessarily have the same opinions.
– Political or religious barbs thrown about unsolicited, from all sides. This includes the people who think they are correct and probably think this doesn’t apply to them (which is probably everyone).
I get it. It is the off-season and the past couple seasons have not been good (or even entertaining at times). College football is in transition and Utah football may or may not be in a great situation.
In the mean time, why don’t we try to be more welcoming, open minded, and tolerant of different viewpoints? Why don’t we try to encourage people to participate on the board instead of being insufferable?
Each passing day this place almost feels a bit more like that message board down south (or at least what Ute fans make it out to be, not being too familiar with it myself).
Maybe I am wrong and this is how it has always been. Perhaps I’m the one who’s changed.
