The misinformation campaign was real. All throughout the Pac-12’s media negotiations, Yormark would make claims that Pac-12 schools were interested in leaving, and negotiating privately. Those comments were what led to Utah’s “Gimme a break” remark, and why Arizona St also publicly rebuked Yormark’s unsubstantiated claims about them as well.

It’s true that Scott’s & Kliavkoff’s mismanagement of our league impacted its demise, but a larger portion of the breakup was Yormark’s interference.

My beef with this is when they use it during the season. Why waste it early in the season or when we are already blowing a team out. It loses the surprise power. Save it for rivalry and big games.

It’s worth remembering that Urban, who is hands down the best strategic coach that has ever coached the program, made most of his starters play special teams. Your best players are your best players. You could make the argument that a program like Utah doesn’t have the depth to lose anybody, so it’s advisable to play our best players sparingly. To me that’s a playing not to lose mentality. No thanks. I’m more of the opinion that we don’t have the depth so we can’t water down our productivity with “filler” players.

I voted 6-6 as I expect to see some uneven play with so many new on both sides of the ball and hope to be pleasantly surprised if they do better.

The Pac-12 implosion was entirely self-inflicted, with a lot of help from the Big 10. All Yormark did was keep his schools together after OU/Texas announced they were leaving.

Giving Yormark credit for the demise of the Pac-12 is a fantasy created by his own publicist.

If ybu-p were not in the Big XII, I would have STILL preferred the old Pac-12 to the current Big XII. I still resent the misinformation campaign Yormark utilized to destabilize our former league.

Adding the zoobs only just made things worse.
