2008 National Champ replied to the topic How do you deal with the commercials while watching the game? in the forum Football 10 months, 2 weeks ago
yeah, Hulu doesn’t allow that. I paid for the no-ads option and still had to watch them so cancelled. I could understand it on live viewing, but when you can’t get past them on the DVR what’s the point?

2008 National Champ replied to the topic welcome to college Mr. Wilson in the forum Football 10 months, 2 weeks ago
The back shoulder TD was well thrown but he passed up the wide open seam route to make that throw. Both picks were nowhere near the receiver and into triple coverage. Definitely some opportunities to clean up the decision making.

it had to be terrible in person with all that non-action. Streaming ESPN+, they don’t show commercials so you just get to look at an office building whenever they cut away from the non-action.

To be clear, I’m not dogging Wilson. He was obviously amped up and Fano with his 2nd (3rd?) ole block of the half didn’t help on his first play. He’s had the half to settle down so we’ll see if he comes out more under control.

not sure who you are responding to. I’m at home watching and Vimahi’s injury didn’t appear to be season ending. D Tackles don’t seem to be as susceptible to ACL’s as other positions so I’m going to hold out hope until I hear otherwise.

I was thinking the same “high ankle sprain” for Mitchell that Jackson fought all last year. But I want to be clear that I’m just guessing and do not wish injury on anyone.
That’s the problem with these FCS games. Ethan Calvert’s career was ruined against Weber State. You buy a win but the injury risk is the same as any other game on the schedule.

Just guessing:
Johnson is an ACL. Done for year, can get medical redshirt
Vimahi I think will be back
Mitchell won’t play again today but just precautionary.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Final prediction on the year in the forum Football 10 months, 2 weeks ago
that would be 16 games if Utah made the final. Can’t go undefeated in the regular season and not qualify for the CCG.
I guess it’s mathematically possible that there are 3 Big 12 teams that go undefeated and because of tie-breakers, one wouldn’t get in to the CCG but I feel safe in saying that it won’t happen.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Whitt's ten greatest wins in the forum Football 10 months, 2 weeks ago
Not sure if it should make the top 10 but without it, Whitt may have gotten canned.
September 15, 2007: Utah 44, (11) UCLA 6. That game bought him enough leash to absorb the Vegas loss the next week and get the team on a roll which fed into 2008 and everything that followed.

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Spring transfer window could go bye-bye in the forum Football 10 months, 2 weeks ago
I agree that the 30 day window will stick after coaching changes but that’s a band-aid. Again, look at Arizona and Washington whose coaching changes happened after the transfer window had closed. The new staff(s) had to try to figure out who would be willing to stay at their current school as well as shopping from the bargain basement section of…[Read more]

and yet coaches, the people most pushing for the new rule because “it’s too hard to plan your roster if players can’t be forced to stay and can change schools whenever they want”, can still shop their services any time they want and potentially screw up multiple schools coaching staffs in the process.
Ask Arizona and Washington how much fun it…[Read more]

ayup! outisde of injuries, i don’t expect to learn anything this week from a game that Utah should win by ~ 40 points. The real measuring stick is on Sept 7

2008 National Champ started the topic Team Talent Composite in the forum Football 10 months, 3 weeks ago
247 posted their 2024 Team Talent Composite. I’ve been tracking it since 2015 and if I would have been betting the money line just based on the talent rankings, I would have been way up. For instance, if someone has just taken the more talented team for home games in P5 v P5 matchups, they would have won 70% of their wagers regardless of the…[Read more]

he didn’t get on the field, but he dressed for the 2021 loss. and as much as I’m able to ignore the parochial school, it’s part of the local conversation no matter what happens. so in his 23 years on the hill, he’s technically oh and one

2008 National Champ replied to the topic Why did Whitt move away from the spread offense? in the forum Football 10 months, 3 weeks ago
there is no such thing as a “spread” offense. it simply refers to receiver alignment and originated as a talking head term as teams moved away from “tight” formations like the power I, wish/flex bone, or veer in an attempt to get defenders out of the box to make running easier. over the last 30 years, it’s now become a catchall term that doesn’t…[Read more]

2008 National Champ replied to the topic The Athletic predicts the playoff teams in the forum Football 10 months, 4 weeks ago
very low % chance that there is a home playoff game in RES in the current CFP format since they would have to be a 5 to 8 seed instead of a conference champ.
With the current emphasis on the big 2, the only way I could see that happening is an undefeated regular season and then losing the CCG by a close enough score that they don’t drop to 9.…[Read more]
