It might not be fine…as an analogy, Utah might be a silent film star at the start of the sound era, and we all know what happened then. Unless strict, formal guidelines are placed on college football and basketball, the only thing that’s going to matter is how much money you can throw at those programs to keep them competitive. It really is an…[Read more]

That could be the answer. Maybe the order of merit changes based on what’s going on in the college sports world.

Well, if you ask Fanatics, not very high. I was perusing Fanatics this morning to see if there was any new Utah merch in their inventory, and I was shocked to see that Utah wasn’t one of the 80 teams on their web “quick link” (neither was BYU). To get to see Utah (and BYU) merch, you had to click on the “All 500+ NCAA teams” link. What made…[Read more]

I’m taking a wait and see approach. Miro Little was supposed to be much more of a finished product, and we saw how that relationship turned out. This guy is younger and much less experienced than Little. If he can play 8-10 productive minutes a game in his first season, I’d call that a win. Another thing about videos like this…keep in mind…[Read more]

The only time I ever parked at the stadium was when I was going to the U. After that, I’ve always taken TRAX to games.

A technique I used last season for Utah Hockey Club tickets is just drive to the arena about 30 minutes before puck drop and continually check the ticket prices on various apps. I got in to a handful of games for less than $20 a ticket.

I received the same email as well. My tickets just added the $100 Crimson Club charge, so now I’m up to $350 per ticket. Not a big deal but I expect to see some definite improvement this season if the university wants me to continue reupping.

Tony, I hope that you’ll go to the Wyoming game. I’ll be there as I always wanted to see a game at the stadium that’s at the highest altitude in the US. It’s also within easy driving distance from SLC.

Being honest though, there are more than a few posters calling BS on that narrative, In addition, the original post has twice as many down votes than thumbs up.

If ever….maybe in some unforeseen future where we both make the playoffs…and then the network(s) will have a field day trotting out highlights from those contests.

Oh Tony, that’s the other part…I feel no affinity, at all, for the Big XII…honestly, and this might sound sacrilegious, I would rather be in a regional conference like the MWC provided Utah got the same money, at least, as in the Big XII…I rather enjoyed playing teams like Air Force, Wyoming, etc…plus they made neat road trips as well…I…[Read more]

I’m in the same spot you are and this upcoming season might be my last as a season ticket holder. I have no problem with athletes getting paid but there need to be some guardrails instituted to bring stability to college sports. You cannot have eternal and constant free-agency if you want fans of a team to remain connected and involved with a…[Read more]

I’ve been there a few times, and you should absolutely go, especially if you’ve never been there before. SW South Dakota is unlike the other parts of the state, and the landscape reminds me of Switzerland. I highly recommend visiting Spearfish Canyon and Deadwood if you do get up there.

Hi UteBacker and thanks for the information. I’ll look into doing something like that during my next trip to Alaska, whenever that is. We’re already signed up for a full day of cruising on the water and I think my family would revolt if we were to do it again in a short time.

I’m going to Alaska for 10 days. First time I’ve been there in 35 years. We’re going to split our time between Anchorage and Fairbanks and do some touristy stuff like going to Denali National Park and a whale watching cruise. Later in the summer, I’ll also be going up to northwestern Montana for a couple of weeks to do some camping. This is…[Read more]

One man’s garbage is another man’s treasure. Maybe he becomes the next Tavion Thomas (minus the psychological issues), or maybe he just has a cup of coffee with the Utes. I will say the fact that he transferred so late in the game and was available to Utah definitely means that all of the traditional football powers passed on the guy.

The Miami Ute replied to the topic Is NIL and the portal sustainable? in the forum Football 1 month ago
Well, the problem is that when I said “Cal”, it’s just an example that also applies to many more universities. I always said that this new world of unlimited transfers, NIL, etc…would lead to a series of unintended consequences, of which many universities dropping football or athletics in general is just one. Here’s another…we all know that a…[Read more]

All I know is that he’s a Covid player…he started at BYU in 2020, transferred to Utah in 2021, transferred to UCONN in 2022, transferred back to Utah in 2023, and hasn’t played a down the last two seasons. Hard to see how, after five college football seasons where he hasn’t even played in a game, he’s anything more than a footnote. Stranger…[Read more]
