If Kuither, Rising, and Rose were all healthy – I would feel good about it. I think we can still win our first two games, but it will be much more challenging without Rising and Kuithe.
ProudUte replied to the topic Barnes has been and is on scholarship in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
You seem to know what you are talking about, so I assume you are right. However, a Dnews article just last week said that he still wasn’t on a scholarship. (Seemed odd to me.) Their info may have been outdated and wrong.

I think you may see it on third and short or inside the five.

The only shock is the Rose injury. The rest was at least somewhat suspected. It is what it is. Now the other guys need to step it up and lead us to victory.
Go Utes!!!

It is not ideal, but I don’t think Cam can be close to 100%. Ludwig needs to make a game plan that allows Barnes to use his skills. He is not my first choice, but the kid has some athletic ability and he is familiar with our system. The interesting thing is that I hear Barnes still doe not have a scholarship.

if Cam cannot go. He just said this in an interview with Josh Furlong.
He also said that Johnson will play.

Nice article on Miles Battle.
My favorite quote:
“I want to be known as long, rangy, lockdown corner; be able to play inside and out, and I feel like I could do that here with the defense that we play,” Battle said. “I could lock down inside, lock down outside, no matter where I am on the field. Just do my job and lock down that receiver.”

Most of the drive to Park City is on I80. It’s not a difficult ride at all. Some of the other ski resorts are up windy canyons. Park City is an easy drive (unless it’s snowing). It is a great place to stay.
ProudUte replied to the topic ACL surgery in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
Yes. Look at Covery in 2019. He had surgery in December the previous year. He tried to play a few plays early on, but ended up sitting the rest of the season. He wasn’t really himself in the shortened 2020 season either. But, he came back strong in 2021.
I wish the best for Rising and Kuithe (especially in the long term).

I am glad you are making the trip. I was at Gainsville last September. I hope you enjoy your trip.
Go Utes!

I agree with your assessment. I have told people that if Cam cannot go in the early games that he gets to play 10-15 snaps against Weber so he can be game-ready for UCLA.
I agree with you on Baylor. We need to win that game in the trenches. Our Oline needs to open some holes for JJ, Bernard, Glover, et al. Our Dline needs to stop the run and…[Read more]

Bishop has to be close to the top 100 IMO.
I hope Kuithe gets healthy and has an amazing season and is picked in the first round like his partner Kincaid was.
ProudUte replied to the topic ACL surgery in the forum Football 9 months, 1 week ago
I am also thinking that his first game may be against UCLA.
I am no doctor, but I do not see how a D1 college QB can be ready to play with just two weeks of practice – after an eight-month rehab where you have done little on that knee. Seems that you would need more than two weeks to get ready to play. However, I readily admit that I know very…[Read more]

I know every person is different and some will get back quicker than others. I was watching ESPN last night and they said that Kyler Murray will likely not return until October and may miss the entire season. He had ACL surgery basically the same time as Cam. It doesn’t appear that Kuithe is game ready and he had surgery three months before…[Read more]

Baylor is already recruiting many local kids and has a few commitments. They do have a couple of coaches with some local ties.

Notes from the weekly Bartle interview on ESPN700:
Kash Dillon is a big-time get. 6’4″ and 220 pounds. Had over 80 tackles last year including 17 tackles for loss. He’s exactly the type of kid that fits the mold of the D-ends Utah has developed. When Jay Hill was hired at BYU – they came on strong to get Kash. This is the third recruit from…[Read more]

may miss the Florida game.
Good teams adjust and still figure out a way to win. I have confidence in Ludwig. I think he will prepare a game plan that will help the offense be successful. If Rising can’t go, I suspect that Barnes with be the starting QB and that there will be a number of plays where we will utilize Nate Johnson. From what I am…[Read more]
