Anyone catch the USC ‘mascot’ trying to stab his sword into the turf at Allegiant. Pretty funny.

Week one has a few ‘top’ games set up, but they mostly turned into busts/blowouts. Wait until week 3. Woof. There are some days that should be spectacular, like Oct 12.
– Georgia is good, Clemson is not (maybe using the transfer portal is useful to fill gaps?)
– Ohio St. is good. $20M buys a great team
– Oregon? um, embarrassing
– Just have OTA…[Read more] -

I grew up in ABQ, so all teams were pretty much adopted from what my dad (rarely) watched. I watched more Saved By the Bell and Star Trek Next Generation than sports. I do remember watching the subway world series when the earthquake hit.
NFL: Dad watched the Cowboys. I (mildly) followed the new Jaguars more since my aunt and uncle gave me a hat…[Read more]

1. I think this is a perfect starting game – starting against UF and the fall camp is amped up to get ready for the physicality. An FCS or even lower level G5 is great. Rising out by halftime? perfect. It’s a preseason game essentially, a live scrimmage against a team calling their plays and defenses. It’s a final dress rehearsal. Any injury can…[Read more]

Those listed are the place kicker, punter, long snapper. I’m sure he’ll be returning punts, maybe kickoffs (esp the new format).

New Mexico usually produces 1 3-star a year, maybe 2. Recruiting usually has to recruit into west Texas, leftover Arizona and a few here and there. It’s definitely a place where it’s better to have a system. UNM did ok when they went to a run-heavy, zone blocking system. They have also done short stints with a spread but usually don’t have the qb…[Read more]

I don’t know why a team would trade when they could get him in a couple hours on their terms. Unless they want to lock him up and not get in a bidding war? Or offload some guaranteed salary of someone? I guess I don’t know enough of the pros/cons (except Broncos trying to get something of value in return)

The offseason is always too long and seems to get longer. Then BAM! season starts and I try to keep up and by the time I’m in my peak watching groove, it’s week 5. Then the next 7 fly by bowls come and it’s over again.

I get this sentiment (no one would watch Utah). We have gained a ton of respect in football and legacy basketball, but only 9% lives in the space between I north-south line west of DFW and the far west coast populations. And that includes Phoenix, SLC, Denver. There is an argument there just aren’t the eyeballs/interest. I think any league still…[Read more]

DataUte replied to the topic Biggest fears going in to the new conference. in the forum Football 9 months, 2 weeks ago
They have the same issue with us BUT not the other Big 12 teams they’ve played for years. It’s the cumulative effect (more of the road games). Ok St. has @ BYU and @ CU as their only ‘new’ locale. We have @ Stillwater, @ Houston, @ UCF (but luckily Utah St. is close, non-conference anyway, @ ASU which we are used to, @ CU which we are used to.…[Read more]

Hopefully by UCF, we have locked up a spot in the CCG and we can play loose and free. And I agree that UCF could be banged up, negating their young talent they have been building.

To me, it’s less about the stadium itself, but the road trips where it’s all new. Cognitive load taking away from the focus on the game. We have a great logistics staff and they are visiting these locations and getting tips from the schools and conference (where to stay, eat, etc.). But each player may feel a little off in knowing simple stuff…[Read more]

DataUte replied to the topic Any scrimmage tidbits? in the forum Football 9 months, 3 weeks ago
Wow, with the players we have on defense, that’s encouraging. And it seems the defense usually leads as the offense gets it together with timing, blocking, etc. So hopefully this means our offense is top of the conference and our defense still is one of the best ever. Going to be a fun year.

No reason. I don’t know enough about Randle and Mitchell other than 90 and 86 as recruits. We’ll need them all and whoever can deliver, I’m all for. Hoping top 2 are work horses and RB3 and beyond are only needed if for depth for injuries.

DataUte started the topic Will we have/need/want a RB1 or go with a committee? Who will lead? in the forum Football 10 months ago
I’m of the opinion that we are more likely to have 3 RBs with 400-600 yards (maybe one that is closer to 700, maybe another that gets to 300) than a 1000 yard rusher – a more true RB1 like Thomas, Moss, Williams, Booker, etc.
Bernard, Glover are likely the top 2. Both will get carries, have experience, might go out for receiving and will be…[Read more]

When I saw the question, my first reaction was Kuithe then Singer. But I like where some are going with their predictions. Kuithe’s continued health will obviously be a question until he plays all the games and stays healthy, but anyone is prone to an injury. Parks and Pittman will be in the mix enough and we’ll get some catches from a few other…[Read more]
