The Miami Ute

Don’t put your eggs in the Huard basket. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he ended up throwing the same number of passes in his Utah career as Cooper Bateman. Or me. But at least my total fit with my recruiting ranking.,,

  • I find the recruiting ranking argument as a reason why Utah can’t have a great offense to be silly. Mike Leach had great offenses every year and no one confused WSU’s athletes for blue chippers. He chose one thing, coached his team to do it well, and ran it over and over daring the defense to stop it.

Utah’s current athletes running the…[Read more]

  • I’m with you on the thinking but Utah doesn’t currently have an Ashton Jeanty on the roster. And I’m not sure next year’s RB’s fit a power run game. I’m not one who believes that you have to have a 230 pound bruiser to run the ball effectively but if you aren’t going to run the defender over, you have to be able to avoid contact and I haven’t…[Read more]

  • Dirk Koetter? I’d say his current offense is Ashton Jeanty first, but not necessarily run first. From his Wikipedia page: At Arizona State, Koetter compiled a 40–34 (.541) record, and four Bowl appearances in six years. Under Koetter, who was also the offensive play caller, the Sun Devils became known for a vertical passing attack.

    2001 ASU – 3…[Read more]

“You’re traveling through another dimension. A dimension not only of game time decisions but of mind games. A journey into a not so wondrous land whose boundaries are that of zero offensive imagination. That’s a signpost up ahead: your next stop: the Whittlight Zone!”

  • you saw his offense in the 2023 bowl game. If you weren’t impressed by the 14 points Northwestern put up against 1/2 of the Utah starting D, or the 22.1 ppg (106th in country), you aren’t going to be impressed with what he does at Utah.

That 22.1 was the high water mark for him at Northwestern. But it was an improvement from the 13.8 in 2022.

  • What coordinator worth his salt is going to come to Utah on a standard 3 year deal with a coach who could retire at any time? And why would Utah commit 1.5MM per w/ buyout for 3 years given the same reason?

Ludwig got a pretty sweet friends and family deal that should not be available to the next guy. I agree with people up above who said the…[Read more]

  • In a locker room if you are coming off as arrogant or entitled, it’s because that’s who you are. You can’t hide who are from your teammates. Winning will make others ignore it but as soon as that goes away, you don’t have any credibility. It’s not a freshman thing, it’s an asshole thing.

  • Film room: I found it interesting that the writer highlighted Tennessee running RPO in the red zone and the QB made the wrong read twice in a row so Bakajian called a reverse that should have been blown up as a great play sequence.

Oh, and am I the only one who thought the Spencer Fano wrinkle on the 2 point play was really nice but could have…[Read more]

  • So status quo? 😫

  • Moss, Huntley, Travis Wilson, Wynn, Brian Johnson. All have demonstrated leadership early in their careers.

It isn’t something I expect from Isaac Wilson.

I just expect the coaches to put players in the best position to make an impact. Whitt and Scalley have been excellent at this. Something went wrong these past two seasons. Call it relying o…[Read more]

Yep. I can’t imagine anyone having some fun with “this cute boy” and his sniffles in a locker room.,,

Hallmark Channel movie type post. 🤮
    That’ll win the locker room.

  • Weird game management to end the game. Lot of empty possessions that didn’t work.
Really good showing against a good team.

That post felt like a reaction to Rose’s mom’s post earlier in the week. Even though everyone is playing hurt, sick or emotionally spent at this point in the season, Wilson’ mom needed to point out what a hero her son was.

If Wilson wasn’t estranged from his teammates before, mama coming to his rescue isn’t going to make it any better.

102 temp seems like bullshit to me. Probably just my bias in not believing anything about the QB’s ever.

First half he looked like he couldn’t defend himself at all. They changed up the calls to allow for quicker passes and it worked a lot better.

  • Going to need him soon. This run and gun offense works.

I’ve been waiting all season for Wilson’s mom to check in. Now that I know how she feels, I can completely ignore everything bad that happened in that game.

I’ve gotten pretty tired of the “something was wrong with the QB but we decided to play him anyway” meme this season has turned into.

  • I’ve been telling people. This team will surprise a lot of people. Great showing through one half.
