Ghost, or anyone else who might know:
What’s up with the reported “team chemistry” issues with Wilson? Is he playable at this point, both due to this supposed issue and his health? I’m hoping these things have been blow out of proportion by the rumor mill, especially since he is one of our two remaining QBs for the year.

The years in the 90’s when we had a pretty good team, but always lost too many WTF games to really be in the national conversion, but we finally started beating the zoobs with some regularity. 1993-1995 were great, but abusing Kevin Feterik at their place, with Darnel Arceneaux coming off the bench to lead the offense was probably my favorite of…[Read more]

It would be great if we found a way to use Stanley as a legitimate weapon. I worry that he only looked amazing because the USU and SUU D are kinda slow. It seems like he should be getting/faking some sweeps.
I also would like to see more creative use of Lohner on offense (why not?).
One thing I think we are sorely missing is that Cam was…[Read more]

The final play of the circus defense didn’t go so well for us, though, with Harline still being open and all. That is one of my least favorite plays of all time.
I do like the idea of trying something off-the-wall to throw them off, though. The Duck will always have a special place in my heart.

My doctor has cleared me for all kinds of liquor, but I will make a decision after warming up. I might need to wear a glove to hide all the tape on my hand. My grip strength hasn’t been the same since I punched a hole in the wall during the Baylor game.

I have a new strategy for when the offense is on the field:
1 shot for each three and out, and two for each turnover. Either way, I’ll be enjoying our offense a lot more.
I have a concept of a plan for getting all that liquor to my seat, but like Kyle Whittingham, I’m not gonna tip my hand.

I heard Cam’s doctor had a press conference, and said he might be cleared by gametime.

Worst:
Johnny Harline. I can still see that circus defense in my mind. Ouch.Best:
Honorable Mention: 1997 – Darnell Arceneaux cleans up after Jonathan Crosswhite (again), and our defense (John Frank the tank) ate Kevin Feterik alive. I think we ran a surprise 3-man front most of the day, and still got pressure and sacks.2004: We beat the…[Read more]

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic How we win Saturday in the forum Football 5 months, 3 weeks ago
I’m guessing they will have a plan to rattle Retzlaff. If it works, it will look great. If not, he will probably beat us for some big plays. On offense, I am guessing we will see a shakeup of the O-line, and a focus on running the ball hard. Control the ball, control the clock, have a chance to win something like 14-7 at the end. Or, maybe we…[Read more]

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic Whitt just can’t let go in the forum Football 5 months, 3 weeks ago
I’m for whoever is the best QB available next year. If that is Cam, I am for Cam. This team needs a viable QB2, and it needs an offense that can work for a quarterback who has not been in the system and/or sitting in the booth with the OC for years. I am mostly worried about our O-line and RB rooms.

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic Whitt, Scalley and my random thoughts. in the forum Football 5 months, 3 weeks ago
I think the defense really went in its current direction under John Pease, and Scalley has more or less stuck with the general philosophy. Scalley blitzes a bit more that Pease did, but not overwhelmingly so. Getting pressure with just the front 4 is the goal, but that only works if the front 4 are able to consistently beat the opposing line.…[Read more]

Whatever resurgence the offense is going to have for the second half of the season will need to start with the O-line. I hope they are up to the task, because if not, this offense is going nowhere.

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic What I would like to see from the O going forward in the forum Football 6 months, 1 week ago
I would like to see us have a plan for when Houston blitzes the $@$@# out of us, because they will. The ball needs to come out of Wilson’s hands much faster. We could use more quick screens (I saw two on Saturday, and they worked pretty well), a reliable “hot route” that the defense hasn’t already taken away, etc. We need a game plan that is…[Read more]

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic Ludwig made 1.8 million? in the forum Football 6 months, 1 week ago
Ludwig’s system could be good under certain circumstances. His offense was built around using formations and motions to show the QB certain things about the defense. The QB then needs to make a few pre and post-snap reads, and hopefully exploit weaknesses and mismatches. It worked pretty well with a QB who could do all of that reliably (Huntley…[Read more]

It was great that the first game set the record for beer sales at The Delta Center. I hope someone remembered to pour one out on a TDS fan.
I also thought it was kinda funny that he didn’t/couldn’t skate out to drop the puck for the ceremonial first face-off. It is weird that he wanted a hockey team, but whatever, I love hockey, so having a…[Read more]

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic Unfortunate trend continues in the forum Football 6 months, 1 week ago
I’m excited to see what happens when Wilson is 100% THE guy. I also think our “win the time of possession” strategy probably plays a role in the points-scored issue (which falls under coaching).

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic QB2? in the forum Football 6 months, 1 week ago
From what I hear, they (Rose and Huard, but especially Huard) are not as good as Wilson at identifying defenses based on pre-snap reads, and dealing with pressure in live situations. These things are also why Rising was thought to be a good option in spite of his injury status. Obviously, Huard can throw a great ball, but if he can’t understand…[Read more]

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic Season Ending. Farewell Cam Rising. in the forum Football 6 months, 1 week ago
yeah, right? We have had a great run with Huntley, and then Rising. Hopefully Wilson will step up and keep things going. Rising has been a great quarterback, and a warrior, and I wish him nothing but the best.
-
thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic Live or Die With Issac. in the forum Football 6 months, 2 weeks ago
The biggest thing is finding a way to handle blitzes with Wilson as QB. I think a big part of why they let Rising play is because he is great at making opposing teams pay for being too aggressive. When defenses dial up the pressure, Wilson tends to take sacks or throw interceptions. Wilson, and the offense in general, need to figure this out…[Read more]
