We already have the Kaelin Clay touchdown. We don’t need “there’s trouble with the snap…” Hopefully we’ll never notice the guy

I kind of feel like Dampier might have a bit of Cam Rising’s ability to just make stuff happen when it matters. He is a fair-to-middling QB on paper (goo but no great, due to his so-so passing #s so far), but he seems like the kind of guy who can pull something out a hat on third down and change a game (hopefully not by throwing a pick-6
).…[Read more]

I think the real failure occurred during the previous 2 seasons, when they only started “tanking” halfway through the season. They flushed those seasons for basically no purpose. At least this last season they successfully tanked.
This whole situation might be a blessing in disguise for the new hockey team, and the U basketball program, as…[Read more]

Things must have been a little painful when Harlan fired Smith mid-season, but kept his son on staff through the end of the year. That was probably not a fun environment for anyone involved. A change was needed, but the way it happened probably rubbed some (or all) of the players the wrong way. Hopefully things will be better going forward.

I picked up your mom from the transfer portal. Didn’t require much NIL money.

It’s good that LSU didn’t make the final. OU will be tough though, as will UCLA. They probably need to clean a few things up to have a chance at winning on Saturday. They looked good though.

Hey, we got one good year out of Tavion Thomas. Maybe we can get a good year out of this guy.

I hear you, but sometimes it can go well (see Taysom Hill, Tebow, etc.). Our lord and savior Urban Myer was very good at coming up with ways to manufacture success through things like this. Obviously these sort of “hybrid” situations look great when they work, and terrible when they don’t, and they haven’t worked well at Utah for a few years…[Read more]

Even Oregon would be horrified by that court.

I watched from home. The pass that sailed through the hands of Mason Madsen as he was looking at the coach instead of the game pretty much summed it up. The victory was there for the taking, and we couldn’t quite close the deal. WVU got the upper hand at the end, and didn’t let it go.

Well, I am glad they are successfully tanking this year. The last two years seem like a bit of a waste.
I’m much more excited for the Mammoths, and it warms my heart to see everyone chugging their beer on the jumbotron in honor of Ryan Smith.

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic Mammoth, Outlaws, or HC… what you like? in the forum NHL 3 months ago
I like UHC and Mammoth in that order. Either way, I would like to hear a lot more Mastodon in the arena soundtrack.
The should just cut right to the chase and change the “Outlaws” option to “The Porter Rockwells.”

thirtyfour-thirtyone started the topic Beck's RPO offense and penalties in the forum Football 5 months ago
Troy Taylor’s offense seemed to generate an “ineligible receiver downfield” call every few plays. This seemed to really hamstring the offense at times. The O-line was always down field run-blocking when they shouldn’t have been. I associated that problem with RPO offenses in general, and was a little nervous about us running an RPO scheme…[Read more]

He doesn’t seem to meet the requirements, but the NCAA seems to be handing out eligibility like candy these days, so here’s to hoping.

“insert himself into the offensive equation:”
Kyle will apply for a COVID year of eligibility, and make himself the starting fullback. His calves would repel tackles.

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic Dampier in the forum Football 5 months ago
Lud’s offense required the quarterback to use pre-snap motions and reads to figure out what the defense was doing, and run the play (or change the play) accordingly. He then had to be on the same page with the OL. WR, RB, etc. about reads during the play to get the ball to the right place. Cam did that pretty well, and the results were good…[Read more]

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic Devon Dampier in the forum Football 5 months ago
The guy was reasonably successful in his first year running Beck’s offense. Maybe we get some other hot-shot QB in the portal. Maybe we don’t. I would feel pretty good either way if we have Dampier on the roster. This is the closest we could possibly get at this point to continuity on the offensive side of the ball (in a good way, anyway).…[Read more]

thirtyfour-thirtyone replied to the topic What version of Beck will Whitt allow? in the forum Football 5 months ago
My biggest hope is that Beck will be able to do whatever is required to move the ball and score points with the personnel available to him. Hopefully he can also help QBs develop. We will see.

I’m wondering what the Lohner situation really is, and if he will make an impact if he joins the team. I would hope that after a season of football, he will bring a physical inside presence.
