ParticipantHere’s hoping that St. Jensen can restore interest in the basketball program.
-
loyter
ParticipantWell, I guess technically now there’s one.

ModeratorThis season has become the opening band at a concert. Do your thing and get off the stage so we can see the headliner. Not saying this is right… I appreciate the fight our boys had in them this year.

KeymasterAnother game I’ll struggle to watch because I don’t even know if I get ESPN+ or not, and I’ll play with logins and passwords and all that…

ParticipantIf Ausar is out, we might be fooked

ParticipantAlso this court is like one of those stereogram cross your eyes pictures. 🤮

The Miami Ute
ParticipantYou beat me to the comment. It’s the most hideous looking court I’ve ever seen. I mean, you have to be blind not to be affected by it.
-
thirtyfour-thirtyone
ParticipantEven Oregon would be horrified by that court.

ParticipantKeanu is playing well.
Too bad as a team, the Utes haven’t hit a jumper all game yet…..
The good news is they are getting a lot, and I do mean a lot of dunks and layups.
-
//r00t4Utes
Participant1 jumper made in the entire 1st has half, the happened to be a 3, by Erickson. Everything else was a dunk, layup, or free throw.
Gabe had missed 2 wide open 3s and 1 other good look from 3 and missed a layup…. dude is struggling. He has some nice passes.
-
//r00t4Utes
ParticipantSadly, it’s over early in the 2nd half, Utes still not making shots, but now missing layups and put back attempts and no longer getting rebounds and UCF getting hot from 3.
Sad to see when the other team can make contested shots and you can’t hit easier and more open shots.
-
//r00t4Utes
ParticipantMade 1 shot and 1 FT in 7 min in the 2nd half. With Erickson going 0 for 2 from the FT line.
The pathetic offense has affected the defense. Somehow, when it seems like there’s no way to get worse, the Utes manage to prove me wrong .
As I type this, they finally hit a layup and a dunk.
For the record, 2 made jumpers for the entire game. 1 by Erickson and 1 midrange by Mike.
-
//r00t4Utes
ParticipantMiro hit a 3, so three made jumpers for the game so far, 2 of which are 3s. But he also just fouled out.
Gabe might play his last game without making a shot. He has 4pts all from the free throw line.

ParticipantReverse jinx worked, lol.
Gabe hit two 3s. Which doubles the team total to four made 3s for the game.

ParticipantNow you know why there is no posts. This team doesn’t have much upside. Lacks athleticism and talent. Majerus would say “ we look like the ski team “.

Rick Walker
ParticipantWe suck. End of story. Can’t beat a simple 3-2 press. Can’t hit open shots. Can’t recognize open shots either. Pathetic.

ParticipantHope we can hold onto Dawes.

ParticipantThis is item of business number 1 for Jensen. Dawes is a beast. It’s criminal how much Craig under utilized him. I just don’t understand why we are so bad in conference tournaments. It’s very sad. I’m in KC for work and went to the game, sat right behind the bench. Vibes were off.

ParticipantWhen’s the last time we advanced in a conf tourney? It’s probably been, what, six or seven years?
-
TomahawkCruise
ParticipantLast year. We creamed ASU in the first round and then lost to Colorado in the quarters.

Keymasteraaaaand we’re done here.

ParticipantApparently the players are really feeling it too. Reading Mason Madsen’s comments after the BYU game would have Majerus turning over in his grave.
“I will say, it would probably be fun to play for BYU and have those fans. Because that was pretty sick,” the senior said. “That is something I hope I experience in the future. Not that I haven’t at certain places. But playing where people really care about basketball.”
Ouch

Holladay Ute
ParticipantI am a season ticket holder and I fill my seats every game, but at the end of the day…if you as a player want to play in front of a great crowd, then play good basketball and make it easier on the fans. Mason Madsen couldn’t even get off the bench on a frustratingly mediocre team (couldn’t make free throws, turnovers like every other possession, etc.). Utah fans will absolutely come to watch quality basketball. They were there for Majerus. They were there for Coach K when the team was good and when there wasn’t roster turnover every year. And even in recent years, we gave the players a dynamite atmosphere in a handful of games (mainly the TDS games).

ParticipantIn pre-season when we set the team record for made treys a few times and our percentage of field goal attempts from outside the arc was higher than in many NBA games, I noted that on days the outside shots aren’t falling, we would struggle. Last night was a definite example of that.
-
loyter
ParticipantLast night was not about whether shots were falling as much as it was about giving up 49 points it the second half. If Jensen can teach the team to play defense and box out, I might start tuning in again. It’s really impressive that this university has squeezed every single ounce of interest I once had in CBB out of me. Those of you who know me know that I was a diehard as anybody for a lot of years.
-
OldAsDirtUte
ParticipantWow, you are the last person I would have expected to hear that from! But, if Alex Jensen is anything like Majerus, good times should be returning sooner than later. GO UTES!
-
Minnesota Ute
ParticipantYup, we’ve been the die-hards, tuning in through thick and thin. It’s been way too much thin over the last decade, so I’m really hopeful that Alex can get the job done. It’s been a long sad run. I haven’t given up yet, and maybe I never will be because I need something to occupy my time in the long dark cold evenings of the north woods. That said, it sure would be nice to be actively rooting rather than just hoping it will be a decent game any given night.

ParticipantI see where Utes might still get a berth in the NIT or the new CBC that’s being held in Vegas. Eilert and Gabe both have said they’d love to participate. How’s everyone feel about that? Personally, I’d just soon call it a wrap and get started on the next chapter. Nothing against these guys, but they had their chance and it’s time to move on.

ParticipantNormally. I’m all for ANY postseason tournament, but not this season….Hard no on that.
Time to get on with the AJ era….Hopefully, AM comes aboard….GO UTES!!
