So… to get 2 games with Florida… we had to add 2 more with BYU.

    Two BYU games were removed, then two Florida games were added, then 4 BYU games were tacked on the end of the agreement. I would say it is bittersweet if I didn’t think the legislature wasn’t already trying to torture Utah for eternity.

  Yeah, lost in the Florida series news was that we scheduled BYU from 2025-2028. That’s how we were able to get out of the 2022 and 2023 games without penalty.

  I just think that BYU has to take the place of our B or C game every year. BYU cannot be our A game. Harlan is determined to keep the BYU series going, which I think is a good thing overall. The rivalry (on the field) was as clean as I’ve seen it this year, and I think it’s enjoyable. I’d personally like to alternate years with USU and BYU, but replace the Weber and SUU games.

    If BYU is going to stay on the schedule, we absolutely should make them our B game. Schedule as many P5s as we can to fill the “G5 slot” on the schedule, and put BYU into the permanent G5 slot. We simply have to up our level of competition. More exposure vs bigger P5 teams = better recruiting = better Utah team hopefully.

    BYU is becoming our “B” game, or at least we’re getting comfortable scheduling other P5 opponents with BYU. For instance:
    
    2022: Southern Utah, SDSU, @Florida [C, B, A]
    
    2023: Florida, Weber St., and @ Baylor [A, C, A]
    
    2024: Southern Utah, BYU, and Baylor [C, B, A]
    
    2025: Wyoming, BYU, ??? (this one leaves BYU as the A Game, I suppose)
    
    2026: @Houston, Arkansas, BYU [B, A, B… note, no C game in 2026]
    
    2027: Houston, BYU, ??? (this one leaves BYU as the A Game, I suppose)
    
    2028: @Arkansas, ???

  The postponement is only in there to help Holmoe save face. If Utah is able to get another marquis series scheduled, it will get “postponed” again.

  I think that they were going to schedule BYU anyway. We just have to be more creative in developing reasons to drop them in the future.
