Cal breakdown, who watched and what do you think?

  I’ve only watched the 1st quarter so far. I think Hawaii controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and if you’re Cal, this is not a good thing.
  
  Again, I’ve only watched the 1st quarter.
  
  What are some other observations?

  First game hard to say for sure on anything. It was also played where?
  
  Edit: Guess what I am trying to say is we will see how good Cal really is in the next game or perhaps the third. Multiple time zone changes was hard on me when I went to New Zealand and I didn’t play a football game.

      I think we will know even less about Utah after playing SUU at home this Thursday. Game speed is hard to replicate in practice so pretty much that is all I want to see.

        Here’s what we’ll know about Utah after the SUU game:
        
        If we happen to play a flawless game…that won’t mean anything. But if we appear to struggle with some aspect(s) of the game against SUU, then that aspect–whatever it is–will be what haunts us all season long.

        Yeah I think it was Wynn and Utah played Northern whatever University. I remember thinking we will see how well Wynn has recovered. His first few passes were like ducks. He also took way too long to make reads. Against a hungry opponent like USU, Utah ends up losing.
        
        Clock management and scheme will intrigue me for the offense against SUU. Utah should have a offensive game plan and be successful 70% of the time.
        
        Defensively I guess we will see how good those linebackers are. I am not really worried about the defense personally. We will see against BYU how the linebackers really perform.
        
        I dislike games against FCS level competition. You gain nothing really and you can lose everything.

        I think Utah gained a lot playing Michigan game one. I really liked Utahs schedule last season and wish we had more of that. Less BYU (sans Vegas) and more Utah st and quality P5 teams.

  Cal got into more of a rhythm as the game when on but we really ought to bully them around in the trenches when we play them.

  Okay, I finally finished watching the game. Cal runs a very fast, up tempo offense. Never under center. I don’t remember Cal be fast tempo so this is probably new. They would snap the ball with 18-22 seconds still on the clock.
  
  Webb is a good QB. 70% completion with Hawaii applying some pretty good pressure the whole game.
  
  He spread the ball among 12 receivers.
  
  Hawaii controlled the line of scrimmage the entire game, both sides.
  
  Hawaii had two sacks, Cal none.
  
  Hawaii’s 5 turnovers kept this game out of reach.

    The uptempo offense is interesting. I also thought it was quite bold opening with a onside kick.
