A little advice for Alabama: Next time don’t lose to Vanderbilt.

USS Utah replied to the topic Current Transfer Portal – Leaving in the forum Football 21 hours, 29 minutes ago
Entering the transfer portal does not necessarily mean the player leaves. For example, last year Micah Bernard entered the transfer portal but returned to Utah and rushed for 1,000 yards.

USS Utah replied to the topic Our QB and RB rooms are empty in the forum Football 1 day, 21 hours ago
The reality of the transfer portal: Players are going to leave, new players will come in to replace them. Only time will tell on how the change shakes out.

Spread vs Pro set, but still run heavy.

The sexy big name hire would likely have been just as risky.

USS Utah replied to the topic Jason Beck is the latest rumor for OC in the forum Football 4 days, 3 hours ago
Not the sexy big name hire many Ute fans wanted, but might be a good pick anyway.

I am always trying to find the sweet spot, not too optimistic, not too pessimistic — realist, or whatever. The glass is full of both air and water.

USS Utah replied to the topic Why would an OC who has designed a fast-paced offense want to coach under Whitt? in the forum Football 6 days, 23 hours ago
Other that Troy Taylor who left to be an FCS HC after 1 season and who is now the HC at Stanford.

Glover and Pittman, so far, but we already knew that.

USS Utah replied to the topic Is there anything more pathetic than UCF’s national title claims? in the forum Football 1 week, 2 days ago
In 2018, the NCAA retroactively recognized the 2008 Utah football team with a “national poll championship.” That national poll championship comes regards of the Jeff Anderson/Chris Hester computer rankings, which following the conclusion of the season, determined Utah was the 2008 national champion. After the NCAA officially recognized the Utes as…[Read more]

USS Utah replied to the topic It was the best of times, it was the worst of times… in the forum Football 1 week, 3 days ago
All is not well. Mistakes were made, there were poor decisions made. But there were also a lot of injuries, including to all but one QB.

USS Utah replied to the topic Isaac Wilson in the forum Football 1 week, 3 days ago
Promising #2 status and mop up duty as long at #1 stays healthy is one thing. The coaches should not have felt obligated to make #2 the interim #1 after the starter was injured, and then #1 after the starter had his season ending injury. In hindsight, certainly, making Wilson the #1 QB seems rather foolish.

I recall TDS playing a 4th string QB in a bowl game in 1992.

USS Utah replied to the topic Whitt’s Decision in the forum Football 1 week, 6 days ago
I read a story once about a U.S. Navy officer reporting aboard a ship as the new executive officer. The captain told him “One of the two of us is going to be an S.O.B., and its not going to be me.”

“I’ve heard he’s also an a-hole to work with sometimes.”
Aren’t we all?

USS Utah replied to the topic Wilson debacle is on Whit in the forum Football 2 weeks ago
As the captain of the ship that is Utah football, Whit is responsible for everything. Even if the mistake is made by an assistant coach, well, who hired that assistant? Kyle. The buck stops with him.

USS Utah replied to the topic So, If you judged Whitt only on the last two years… in the forum Football 2 weeks ago
I’d like to give Whitt the opportunity to demonstrate that this year was an aberration. If he cannot get bowl eligible next year, then this year was not an aberration.

USS Utah replied to the topic I want out of this shitty conference. in the forum Football 2 weeks ago
Pretty sure staying in a Pac-12 WITH USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington was not an option.
Pac-12 without those four teams and Big-12 without OU and Texas were the only two options.
Based on that, it was a lateral move, though current B12 fans might argue that the Big-12 without OU and Texas is better than whatever a remnant Pac-12 would have been…[Read more]

The Pac-12 routinely failed to get teams into the CFP.
