I understand we did not play well in the championship game against Oregon.  Crap happens.  A few early questionable calls could have changed the momentum of that game.  And, we were only down a touchdown with under eight minutes to go.  A 70-yard run broke our back.  Oh well.  Oregon was no slouch and we lost.  I can’t let that ruin the 2019 season.

I am not going to let that one game destroy a great season.  We were in the mix to make the CFP.  We didn’t, but we had a spectacular season.  Our defense allowed an average 250 yards a game while the offense averaged 450 yards.  We have never had a team that did anything close to that.

Great season, great players, special moments with great memories.

      Go Utes!!!

It was a lot of fun, but it was also a failure. The team set a goal to win the Pac12 title, and they didn’t accomplish that goal. I believe that the team is clearly on an upward trajectory, and this last season is a big part of that. There is definitely reason to be positive about last year. The Oregon game completely destroyed any positive feelings I have associated to that particular football team. Just writing about it makes me feel like someone gut punched me. That is easily… EASILY the angriest I have ever been about anything ever. I honestly would have been lest irate if they had just completely rolled over and died from the opening snap. The frustrating part is that we had countless opportunities to take the game and just couldn’t get it done. This is why I can’t bring myself to watch any significant portion of any game from last year. It’s just too painful for me. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t fun at the time, I just can’t do that to myself.

The seniors played hard, and were very talented, but I am happy they have moved on. Nothing against them, I just think we need to start over with our team leadership after last year’s disastrous end to the season (and yes, it was an unmitigated disaster).

Participation trophies aside it was a great season. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool and needs to adjust their lives on how to measure success.

Success isn’t always determined by the outcome. It will take your whole life to actually fully realize this or never. It is easy to be a critic when you are watching from the stands. It is easy to say or see what failure is. The man in the arena knows better.

One of our better seasons with one of the funnest defenses to watch we’ve ever had.  A very rough ending, but a good season nevertheless.

Will always wonder if Oregon hadn’t blown that late game at ASU (or was it Zona), beaten Utah to go to the CFP and Utah had gone to Pasadena, if we would have had better motivation against Wisconsin and fared better than we did against the Longhorns.

That would depend on the matchup between our O line and Wisconsin’s D lne.
