If it is now a penalty for the opposition to show the horns-down gesture when playing Texas, shouldn’t it be a penalty against Texas if they show a horns-up gesture in the face of an opposing player?

This is possibly the worst rule in college football.  Should USC be penalized if a player makes an upside-down U against the Utes?

Yeah, pretty obviously flawed in ways you’d think would have been addressed by a governing body that put any thought into their policies.

How about a ten yard penalty anytime another player’s feelings get hurt.

I’m sure however misguided this seems it’s an attempt to stop fights. Fortunately camp will start soon and no one will care.

Just flag the fights. Then coaches will take it upon themselves to make sure there’s no fights.

I wasn’t aware that this was even an issue. Was there some massive fight over this that I missed? Or is this a solution looking for a problem?

Year after year the Cougar football team takes the field showing the upside down “U”.   Instead of expecting a penalty, the Utes proceed to go out and win the game.

What if they do a “horns sideways” sign? What if it is not completely down, but 10 degrees rotated from that position? How many degrees constitutes a penalty? What if they do a thumbs down? What if they “booooo” the opponent? Where does it end?

I was only 7 when Joe Theismann broke his leg on Monday Night Football.  But it couldn’t have been as horrifying as seeing a 20 year-old Texas wide receiver get his feelings hurt when an Oklahoma player gave him the horns-down gesture.  Poor kid.

Darwin was wrong. Modern human evolution is making the race weaker and weaker with much more sensitive feel goods. Feeeewings.
