Is Ja’Quinden too big to play safety, weight-wise? We are so stacked at LB it doesn’t seem like LB is his best path to the field. However, he’s literally the best athlete we have on the team now that Devin Lloyd has moved on. There has to be a great spot to utilize his talent and it’s obviously not going to happen at QB. Thoughts??

I’m with you.  This has been bugging me since the Barnes’ substitution.  Credit to Barnes for doing what he did, but Jackson’s situation bugs the sh!t out of me.  He’s your best athlete, get him on the field.

I’ve said before that until a full time position is decided for him, I would create a Taysom package for him.  Not just wildcat, but put this guy in as QB, RB, WR and TE.  He is a mismatch for defenses in any of those positions.  IMO this could also be his full time role because there’s an opportunity cost if you pigeon hole him at any one position.

Maybe he’s dead set on QB, but I would be selling him on a utility knife/playmaker role involving some QB play and showing him Taysom Hill’s career path.  Disappointed this coaching staff hasn’t fit him in.  All this talk about Lud tailoring the scheme to the talent, not accurate in Jackson’s case.

Thought I heard rumors he was entering the Transfer Portal? That could explain why he was 3rd string?

I hope the rumors aren’t true, but he can’t be happy running a couple wildcat plays a year.

Me too. If he does transfer, being it’s his second transfer, I doubt he’d be going to a good P5 program. Any P5 would see he’s not been able to make it at QB at Texas and Utah and would tell him unless he’s interested in LB they’d pass on him. So he’d end up at some low level program which would be the biggest waste of talent.

If he doesn’t change positions and is dead set on playing QB it won’t be at Utah and he will enter the portal.

He could play just about anywhere. RB, TE, WR, LB or bulk up to DE

Who is saying he is the best athlete on the team?  You, or someone who actually knows?  Honest question….

I’ve heard that he is athletic, but having issues picking things up.  That is why at the start of the season we heard we were going to be seeing a lot of him, but haven’t.

I will trust the guy who led us to the PAC, to the Sugar Bowl, to the PAC championship and to the Rose bowl.  When he tells me this kid is the best, then I will get upset if he’s not playing.  Until then, trust the process.
